MARGARET STAPLES
(GRIFFITHS)
August 8, 1940 – November 8, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Margaret Staples (Griffiths) on November 8, 2024 of Wpg, MB.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Marilyn Morrison & Wendy Staples (Jean-Paul Bisson) in Wpg, MB; her son Darrell Staples in Calgary, AB; grandson Michael in Wpg, MB; and her brother, Ken Griffiths of Strathclair, MB.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Staples; and son-in-law, Dave Morrison.
At 84 years of age, Mom led a full and eventful life. She spent most of her life working in the food services industry at a variety of places. As Marilyn and Darrell grew older, and Wendy still in grade school, mom opened her heart and our childhood home to providing care to the mentally challenged for many years and loved it. Nearing retirement age, she took on lunch program duties at Radisson School. On weekends, she would work coat-check at the Fort Garry Hotel, always recalling the Weddings & New Years Eve parties. Mom and Dad would host yearly Christmas and New Years Eve parties, the house filled with the love and laughter of close friends and family. She enjoyed her vacations with dad in Hawaii and Mexico. She enjoyed BINGO! and you could always find her at Club Regent. She enjoyed her plants and flowers that populated her kitchen and living room windows. She would always jump at the opportunity to donate her time and knit a new baby blanket whether you were family, a friend or an acquaintance.
As per Mom’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Mom will be missed by all who knew the kind and caring person she was.
We'd like to give special thanks to the staff on 3 west at Poseidon Care Centre for their love & support to our mom, as well as the doctors and nurses at HSC Wpg for their care and appreciated efforts.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please consider making a donation on behalf of mom to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Margaret’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My deepest sympathy to Darrel, Marilyn and Wendy on the passing of your mother. I have many fond memories when you lived in Rivers. I visited her many times in the last few years in her home, Deer Lodge Hospital and in the nursing home.

I met Margaret this year at work, and I always enjoyed chatting and just laughing with her, especially during pet visits. She was so fun to be around and my favorite this is how she had been knitting something since I met her and whenever I asked what she was doing, she'd say "I don't know". I'll miss her so so much and I hope that she's at peace

Ma as we called her always had a warm smile, an open door and a hot pot of coffee waiting for anyone. I spent many days at her kitchen table chatting about life and could always count on her support. I didn't see her much in the last few years, I wish I had. Bob and Marg treated everyone of their kids friends as though they were their own. she will be missed dearly and remembered fondly.
