Dexter Starks

DEXTER HARRIS STARKS
September 28, 1945 – April 3, 2026
On Friday, April 3rd, 2026, Dexter Starks, known as Bing to his family and friends, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB.
After secondary school Bing chose to follow a career in the Canadian Forces. He served in the Middle East, the United States and Canada, retiring from his last post in Winnipeg and choosing to make that city his home.
He is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Lily Starks; and his siblings, Claras, Seavey, Honoria, Sophia, Walter, Hazen and Corinne.
He is survived by two sisters, Hope Squires and Connie Smallwood; and a large extended family of Starks, Courtenays, Bruces, Wrights, Smallwoods, Squires, Bradleys and others.
Bing made many friends along the way, but he was lucky to have had a long and continuing friendship with Kirk and Laura Newhook, steadfast friends of his since his time in the Military. He was also especially close with his childhood friend and relative Greg Bradley, wife Linda, and daughter Nori.
Thanks go out to the nurses of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and the staff of St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg. Special thanks also to Mike Newhook and other members of Kirk and Laura’s family who were so helpful.
He will be laid to rest this summer in the family plot at Sandringham, NL, with his parents and other members of the Starks family.

So sorry to hear of Dexter's passing. We knew him in Summerside, when he joined the military. Unfortunately we were posted to different locations and never ran into each other again. Very nice guy and so sad we never got the chance to see him again. RIP Dexter, you will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Dexters passing.
First met Dexter at CFB Summerside in late 1960s, a very engaging character .
Only recently connected with him via telephone chats and knew he was dealing with some health issues.
Will miss our chats. R.I.P. Dexter🇨🇦
