ALBERT STEARNS

Peacefully, while surrounded by his loving family, Albert Stearns passed away at the age of 79 years, in the Health Sciences Centre, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Albert is survived by his beloved wife Darlene; daughter Rhonda (Paul) Boulet, son Brian (Gillian) Stearns, son Roger (Judy) Stearns, daughter Corinne (Debby) McIntosh; sister Kay Kraushar; brother Frank Faschauner; grandchildren Tyler, RJ, Brendan, Rianna, Ivan, Ella, Derek, Jarrett, Ayleena and Kathlyn as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Marie; daughter Cindy; sisters Marie and Frances and grandson Colin.

Albert worked in the manufacturing industry for over fifty years.  He was employed by Silpit Industries, Girls World Fashions, Rice Sports Wear concluding with Levi’s Leathers in 2005, when he retired.  He spent as much time as he could at the lake (Netley Creek).  He loved playing cards and even frequented the occasional VLT.  He liked to keep himself busy and always had some kind of project on the go.  He was kind to others and was always there to lend a hand.  He was also willing to fulfill a supervisory role (or take over) wherever there was a new deck or cabana being built.  He especially loved getting a good deal while shopping and nothing made him happier than receiving “free shipping” while shopping online.

Albert loved his family and truly enjoyed his grandchildren.  He will be truly and sadly missed and remembered forever by those closest to him.

A celebration of Albert’s life was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff of GH5 at the Health Sciences Centre for their professionalism and compassionate care for Albert during his time there.

Rather than sending flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
