BRIAN R. STEBELESKI

October 30 1961-March 21 2023

With profound sorrow and regret, we announce the sudden passing of Brian Stebeleski much too young at the age of 61.

Brian was a warrior but he was also a lover. He had more passion than God knew what to do with and that took him to heights and depths that few reach.

He was known at times for his explosive nature ( he was born on the day of Tsar Bomba after all!) but more often he was a saviour to those in their darkest moments. His lust for life made him a fountain of stories and wisdom that echoed through his powerful voice and piercing blue eyes. His time in the Arctic held a special place in his heart, like living his own Farley Mowat novel and he collected countless treasures in his travels, soapstone carvings and Inuit artwork were among his favorites. He had a very special bond with his daughter Jennifer and they shared many deep conversations together throughout the years.

His life- long love of food and worldly cuisines directed his livelihood as he spent much of his life as a “chef in the woods”. But his real passion was entertaining and feeding those he loved with their favorite meals while some good tunes and conversation dotted with awesome curse words filled the air.

Brian also spent some time working at Hydro cafeterias and the DEW Line. At the time of his passing he was working with Triple C Camp Catering and his 3 times weekly shopping trips to Sobey’s and the butcher shop with Jason were the highlights of his week.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents Victoria (Baba) in 2016 and Gerry (2002).

He leaves to mourn his passing son Jarrod, daughter Jennifer ( Leo), grandson Eli ( his pride and joy), and his  ex wife and mother of his children Sandra Lavack, beloved sister Karen and former brother-in-law Gary, and his friends that were like family to him and were always there for him:  Jason, Frank, Ernie, Cherie, Kayla and Alanna.

Flowers are gratefully declined, instead please make a donation if able to a food bank or homeless shelter in keeping with Brian’s love of feeding and helping people.

A casual and informal celebration of Brian’s life is being put on by his best friend Jason at the Royal George Hotel on Saturday April 22nd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm where we will all raise a glass in memory of a very special and unique man who will be very missed by so many. Love you always Bri!!
