RONALD (RON) ALBERT STECKI

December 28, 1954 - February 15, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, Ronald Stecki on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the age of 67 years, at Parkview Place Care Home.

Ron will be missed by his wife of 38 years, Lucy; son George (Roxanne); daughters, Pamela (Ryan), Nicole (Joshua), and Michelle (Michael); grandchildren, Arthur, Ryla, Mckenzie, and Leah. He is also survived by his mother Bernice; sister Shirley (Rick); goddaughter Wendy (Jesse) and their two children, Colton and Bayley; and godson Tim.

He was predeceased by his father, Albert Stecki; and in-laws Marius and Mildred Chartrand.

Ron spent his entire working life in the lumber business.  At the time of his stroke in 2012, he was working at McDiarmid Lumber in Oakbluff.

Ron played broomball for many years.  George and Pamela remember the broomball picnics, running in the 3-legged races and potato sack races.

When the children were younger, August long-weekend was always a Bollman camping weekend at JJ's by Brandon.  A lot of the Bollman relatives would meet and have a lot of fun!

Ron was part of the bowling community for many years, both as a bowler and as a coach at Youth Bowling (YBC).  He took many youth teams to Provincials and Nationals over the years. He really enjoyed these trips with the boys.

He was the bingo caller at Glenwood Community Centre for many years.  He enjoyed meeting with all the regulars.

He loved when his grandchildren would come to visit at Parkview Place - they made his day!

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Parkview Place for looking after Ron these past ten years.

Ron's family kindly request that his family and friends take a few minutes to honor his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held in the summer.

So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. My deepest sympathies and condolences to his wife, children and family. I met Ron when we worked together back in the 70's at Billinkoff's Lumber on Marion St in St Boniface.  I enjoyed working with Ron and you could tell he was a good person and had a good heart.  He liked to joke and always had a good laugh working together with everyone at work. I remember a time when we working and stopped at his home in Lorette for coffee and through the years I wondered how he was and last I had heard he was working at McDiarmid Lumber.   RIP Ron. I’m sending sympathy hugs to Lucy and family, and Shirley and family. I remember Ron’s easy-going laid back style and his great smile from Glenwood school days with our kids. May you all find peace now that he is with the Prince of Peace.

I remember the many nights of playing canasta with Ron and Lucy when our children were younger. We have always lived close to each other and our children grew up together. Ron used to get a twinkle in his eyes and a grin when he had a good hand at cards! After his stroke I often dropped by his room at St. Boniface hospital with a Tim’s coffee after visiting with my Mother in law in that same hospital. Him and I would watch some tv together for a while before I left to go home.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Ron was like a 2nd Dad when I was younger. I've never forgotten when we made some silly bet (that I'm sure he absolutely knew I would win) and then took me and Pam to the forks so I could spend my winnings on fudge. He always made me laugh and feel welcome, even when I tagged along to bowling where he had a million other things to handle.  Thinking of and praying for you guys

Our condolences to all of the family.  I (Elaine) went to grade school together at Heatherdale School and remember him as a very good baseball player .   He could hit a home run at his will.  You wanted him on your team!
