EVELYN (LYN) J. STEPHEN

October 13, 1938 - February 23, 2024

Lyn, peacefully passed away on February 23, 2024.

Lyn is survived by first cousins (mother's side) Gill Holland, Penticton, BC, Penny Cummine, Kenora ON and April Wright, Salt Spring Island Frank Holland, Abbotsford BC, and Margarite Randall, Sudbury ON. First Cousin (Father's side) Carolyn Lawrenson, Sunderland, ON. And her long-term friends Allison Cowell and Lyn Stevenson.

Lyn was born in Redditt, ON. Her father was the CNR Station Master. With no high school in Redditt, Lyn left to attend Balmoral School in Winnipeg where she lived in residence. In 1960, Lyn graduated as a R.N. from Winnipeg General Hospital. She earned a BN from McGill University and a MSc. Nursing from Boston University. Her nursing career took her to Royal Victoria Hospital, in Montreal, QC. In the 1980’s, Lyn returned to Winnipeg. With a life-long interest in books and libraries, Lyn attended Red River College to obtain her Library Technician Certificate. Thus started a new career back to Balmoral School, the very school she attended in her youth. Upon retirement, Lyn volunteered as the Archivist at Balmoral School. Lyn was a class rep for her "60-B" Nursing class for a number of years.  Lyn was a kind, quiet, astute, supportive friend.

Growing up, around Kenora ON, Lyn developed a strong passion for the beauty of Lake of the Woods. In retirement, she bought a cabin on Longbow Lake, ON. She was there for the next 10 summers, where she spent her time, surrounded by nature's beauty.

A heart-felt thank you is extended to all the Resident Care Staff at the Courtyards/Arbours for their caring and compassionate support over these past few years.

Internment will occur alongside her parents at a later date, at Lake of the Woods cemetery, Kenora, ON.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Balmoral Hall School Tribute Fund” in Lyn’s honour.
