MARION STEVENS

September 22, 1930 – April 26, 2024

Peacefully with her family at her side, Marion passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, MB at the young age of 93. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Regan Philpott; her daughter and son-in-law, Gaylene and Ken Jasper; grandchildren, Brittany (Justin) Fraser, Meaghan (Matt) Smith, Bryson (Claire) Jasper; and six great grandchildren.

Marion was predeceased by her first husband of over 25 years, Dudley Philpott (1979); and her sons, Jason Philpott (1991) and Darren Philpott (2008). Marion was also predeceased by her second husband of 32 years, Brian Stevens (2021). Marion would talk about how lucky she was to have 2 wonderful husbands whom she loved dearly in her life.

Marion was born September 22, 1930, in Dauphin MB. She graduated grade 12 from Dauphin Collegiate Institute with a Matriculation and Commercial course certificate which prepared her for work as a stenographer, clerk-typist, and receptionist.

Growing up we went on many adventures camping with our siblings, parents, and pets which included cats and our dog. Marion would talk about how she was tiny, but could still drive the RV.

Marion returned to work after raising her family. She worked as a secretary/receptionist with the Federal Government and in various Government of Manitoba departments from 1986 - 1996.  She enjoyed working with computers instead of typewriters.

Marion loved her family and would always want to know what and how everyone was doing. She would always tell others how proud she was of her family.

The family would like to thank the wonderful home care workers who helped look after mom for the last 3 years. She loved joking and laughing with them. Thank you also to the health care staff, doctors, and nurses involved in Marion’s care for providing excellent care to her from Concordia Hospital, Misericordia Health Centre, Poseidon Long Term Care Home, and Grace Hospital.

Marion’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

OUR Deepest Sympathies to Regan and family. I remember your Mom in the same hospital room as my Mom. Both always talking and laughing. She was a lovely lady.
