Nickolas Stewart

NICKOLAS (NICKOLA) STEWART (STOWORSKY)
1943 - 2025
Suddenly, on Saturday, Feb 8, 2025, Nickolas John Stewart, aged 81 years, passed away at Grace General Hospital.
Born in Winnipeg on November 25, 1943, he is predeceased by his parents, John Stewart (Stoworsky) and Mary Stewart (Tanasoi).
He is survived by his sister Mary-Ann Stewart, Cheryl-Lynn Dani (Stewart), son Michael (Cindy) Stewart, daughter Sharon (Russell) Stewart, granddaughter Kara Lecuyer, grandson Anthony Lecuyer, granddaughter Jamie Stewart, grandson Brandon Stewart, nephew Joel Stewart and niece Sandra Dani.
Nickolas worked at Hignall Printing as a typesetter (where he would meet his future wife Dolores) before moving on to CP Rail where he worked in a variety of positions till his retirement in 1997.
Growing up Nickolas had a love of sports, in particular baseball, where he became pitcher for the West Kildonan Dodgers.
Nick loved to travel and spend his winters as a snow bird, traveling down to the Gulf Coast with Dolores each winter. He enjoyed frequenting the casinos, bingo, Harleys, watching sports and playing his guitar. Nick also developed a love of painting in his later years, enrolling in several different classes, and ended up becoming a very talented artist.
More than anything, he loved his wife Dolores and spending time with his family.
He will be sorely missed.
Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held, as per Nickolas' request.
Nickolas’ family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

To my big brother, NIcky. I am going to miss you more than anything. You always looked out for me when I was younger, and you took me in when I was older and had nowhere to go. I am going to miss your smile, your sense of humour, and the memories we shared. Thank you for always being there when I needed you. Say Hi to Dolores for me and give Max a pat on the head. I love you, Nicky. Until we meet again. XXX OOO
Your little sister, Cheryl-Lynn

Nick was my brother- in -law, married to my sister Dolores. He's been part of our family since I was a teenager. Auntie Diane and I were at their wedding at the Greek Orthodox church and later helped serve food at the reception held and our cousin Beryl's house. It was a very happy occasion. Nick was a very proud father of Michael & Sharon. He would carry them back and forth when they were babies and fussing until they settled down of course it was usually in the middle of the night. I spent an evening with him when Dolores and Mom went to bingo. I found out how competitive he was as we played every game he had and he gleefully won them all. Last time I saw Nick was at our great nice, Erica's, wedding. It was so nice to see him. I live in BC and don't get to Winnipeg often. We did have a few phone conversations which was nice. Nick loved Dolores very much and hoped to be reunited with her. I hope so. Goodbye Nick, lots of love,
