ROLF WOLFGANG STOLLE

November 21, 1934 - June 11, 2020

After a long, yet courageous battle with cancer, Rolf Stolle passed away at home with his family by his side, Thursday June 11, 2020.

Rolf was born in Berlin, Germany November 21, 1934, to Heinz and Betty Stolle. He came to Canada in June 1953. This is where he met the love of his life Elizabeth in the summer of 1955 and they married on May 5th, 1956. Rolf and Elizabeth enjoyed travelling, playing golf, playing cards with friends, dancing and listening to music together. Their travels took them to Hawaii, BC, Phoenix, parts of Europe and numerous trips to
Germany.

Their love created four amazing children, Michael Stolle, Peter Stolle, Angie Walker and Susan Gagnon. Rolf is predeceased by their oldest son Michael in 1988.

Rolf will be deeply missed by his wife Elizabeth, his children Peter, Angie (Harry), and Susan (Gerald); nine grandchildren, Petra (Mike), Monika, Kristen, Jackie (Dave), Rachelle (Iian), Peter (Monique), Chantelle (Mike), Simone (Tyrone), Michelle (Travis); nineteen great-grandchildren; brothers Heinz and Mike; sister Gisela; nieces, nephews, family in Germany, and friends.

Rolf worked hard his whole life as a painter/decorator, he was self-employed, and worked 12 years for Correctional Service of Canada where he retired in 2000. He was a life member of the Fort Rouge Curling club for 35 years. Above all else Rolf was extremely proud of his family and gave everything that he could to all. He loved us all greatly and made sure to never miss a birthday or any celebration that brought his family together. Rolf loved watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing sports. He coached soccer for years and attended every soccer, baseball, or hockey game he could right up until this year. Rolf also enjoyed being with the horses at Peter's, and being out on the water fishing, taking it all in and really enjoying life. Rolf was fearless, kind and accepted everyone just as they were. His advice for his family right until the end was to be kind, take care of one another and don't ever fight.

In keeping with Rolf's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held. Rolf's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos and/or sharing your own memories and stories using the comment section on this page.

My deepest sympathy to Elizabeth and family on Ralph's passing.  We have been friends for many years and shared lots of laughter and have good memories of the times we spent together be it curling or  water skiing or as good neighbors and friends.  He will be missed by all.

I have known Rolf for over 30 years through the Fort Rouge Curling Club. Rolf was hardworking, honest, generous, smart, friendly, caring but most of all he was a good man. Someone you could count on and he definitely left this world a better place than when he entered it. RIP Rolf I’m glad I had the pleasure of knowing you. My condolences to Liz and the rest of the family.  Ken McLean

Al and I both worked with Rolf at Stony Mountain and enjoyed his and Elizabeth’s company at events. He always had a smile for us. We lost touch over the years with work and retirement but fondly think of those days. Rest In Peace friend!

Peter … so sorry to read about your dad's passing.  During the time he worked for CSC at Stony, he always greeted me with a smile on his face.  Always had lots of upbeat things to chat about and was genuinely happy to see everyone.    A ray of sunshine in an work environment that could be very challenging at times.   My husband Tony also worked at Stony and sends his condolences to you and your family.  We had ran into Rolf at several curling bonspiels after he retired from Stony.  Rolf was always happy to see us and was as cheerful as always.    So sorry for his loss. Sorry to hear of Rolf's passing.  I do remember Mother and Rolf loved to fight about anything and everything whenever they got together.  Rolf will be painting blue skies and clouds from now on.

Saddened to hear of Rolf's passing. Rolf was a no nonsense fellow, always up for a chat, unafraid to provide his opinions. I enjoyed many a chat with Rolf over the years at Fort Rouge Curling Club. He never shied away from offering a helping hand at the curling club, most recently as club umpire during the MCA Bonspiels. He always had a big smile on his face, putting others at ease. My deepest condolences to Liz and all of the family. Rolf's big smile will now beam down on all of you as he watches over you from above. May he rest in peace.
