MARGARET STROH

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Margaret at the age of 75 on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023.

Margaret is survived by her husband Bob; daughter Kim (Craig); son Scott; and grandchildren, Luke, Ella, and Spencer. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Freda and Robert Hutchison; as well as her parents-in-law, Norma and Phil Stroh; and nephew Adam Sullivan.

Margaret was born on December 20, 1947, in Red Lake, Ontario. She was raised alongside her three siblings Joan, John, and Eleanor. She spent much of her childhood in Val D’or, Quebec, eventually leaving at the age of 19 to attend the Lorraine School of Nursing in Pembroke, Ontario before starting her long-storied career as a nurse.

Margaret met her husband Bob in Belleville, Ontario, and they were later married in Ottawa on December 20, 1975. They welcomed Kim into their lives in 1976, and their son Scott in 1979. After a few transfers they ended up in Winnipeg in 1981, where they remained until her passing,

Marg spent her life caring for others, whether that be for her patients during her 46 years of service as a nurse (mainly at SOGH), or for her friends and family. One of her favourite things to do was watch her beloved sports teams including the Blue Jays, the Goldeyes, the Jets, and her favourite curling stars. She also had a passion for crafting, creating memorable gifts and cards for every occasion. However, the biggest part of her life was caring for and spending time with her grandchildren. She would do anything and everything for them and could not get enough of watching their activities, making them grilled cheese or pizza dogs and enjoying endless lunch dates with them. They were her world, and she theirs.

Marg’s faith was of the utmost importance to her. We are reassured that she is at peace and in the loving hands of her God. Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church.

Though endlessly sad, we are eternally grateful for the quality time and memories we shared with our wife, mom, and Gramma. Until we meet again for another big hug.

Margie. It's hard to believe that you have been gone from our lives 6 months to the day (Wednesday, September 20th. - Wednesday, March 20th.). Myself, our Children, Craig and our 3 grandchildren miss you every day. I've been watching all the various curling events on TV, but did not go to Regina to watch the Men's Brier as the 10 days would not have been the same without you there by my side. Until we meet again, all our❤. bob

Margie Your birthday and anniversary both came yesterday, just 3 months after you left us. You never said "I'm leaving you, never said Good-bye." You were gone before we knew it, and only God knew why. A thousand times we've needed you, a thousand times we've cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, that no one could ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone. For part of us went with you that day in September when God took you home, and we will miss you until we meet again.

To the Stroh Family, I offer my sympathies for the loss of your dear wife, mother, and grandmother.  Marg was a wonderful nurse, with a great sense of dedication to her patients and colleagues.  Many learned under her mentorship.  She was a lovely person, talented crafter, and caring friend.

I am so very sorry to see that Marg has passed.  I had the pleasure of working with her on the Rehab unit at SOGH and we shared many stories and laughter over the years.  She was a tremendous nurse  - very caring and an incredible work ethic.  My condolences to all at her untimely passing.

Oh Bobby….what a tremendous shock! When I think of Margie, I think of all of her gorgeous Handmade cards we received, the crafts she made and shared with us, (she would never let me into her bedroom because of the craft mess lol), the nuts and bolts made with love and lots of garlic, the many glasses of wine we shared together with her cheeks getting rosier with each glass, the medical advice, when we needed it most, lunches out to sit and chat, but most of all, what a loving , caring person she was. She is truly going to be missed!

We, like so many others, offer our deepest condolences to you Bob and to your family.   It was always special to meet her in the hallways and always be greeted with a genuine friendly "hello" and "how are you."  She was really knowledgeable on all the sports and had a true passion for her "teams".  Bob, you might have to give up on your hopes on the Boston Red Sox because Marg will be giving her Blue Jays extra help from up above. We loved the video, the choice of song and the beautiful pictures of Marg and the family.  As someone else mentioned she was both beautiful inside and out.  She will be truly missed.

We are very sad that God decided to add another angel up in heaven with him..Margie was a beautiful person and had a heart of gold. She treated my son and daughter like they were her own grandkids. When my son heard about the passing of Margie, he was very sad but then worried on who will be hiding the granola bars away from Bob.  She will be missed deeply and never forgotten. Love you guys

Our deepest condolences Bob & family.  We were saddened to hear of Marg’s passing, and are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  Marg was truly a beautiful lady, both inside & out.  We remember the kindness she showed towards Daves’s Mom when she was in the hospital.  A truly kind and compassionate nurse.  It was wonderful to reconnect at the hockey arena where we had some lovely chats and reminiscences of the River West Park days.  Marg’s smile and many acts of kindness and caring will be remembered by many.  Kindest thoughts Bob, to you, Kim, Scott and families. ❤

Thanks to all of you who have reached out in this most difficult time. We have lost an amazing Wife, Mother; Gramma and a very kind friend to many. From my personal perspective Margie passed away way before her time, that said, she was a devout Christian who practiced her Faith daily and the way she treated others was a testament to how she genuinely tried to live her Life, hence the tribute song, 'One Day At A Time' (Sweet Jesus). Kindly listen to the words, better still google the lyrics and that you give you a clear understanding of what she was all about. bob ❤

Marg was my incredible mentor and exceptional and wise, caring friend. Her wisdom, insight, support and advice were invaluable in my work and personal life. Valued, in particular, when the reunion with my son was unfolding...I do not know how I would have travelled that journey without her. I don't think Marg fully realized how loved she was - she was humble and never seemed to be comfortable receiving admiration and the love she effortlessly cultivated. I appreciate having another angel watching over me but I will miss all the memories that my dear friend and I should be making togethet. I love you, Marg. I miss you.

Good memories of Margaret - her welcome and hospitality to us neighbourhood boys.  Pizza dogs......the mention of them seems to bring to life another long lost memory......I seem to remember sitting in the covered patio, eating them with Scott.  Much thanks!  May the peace of our Creator God surround you and carry you along the road of grief, mourning and honoring her life, memory and legacy.
