Ann Marie Stronski

(née GROBB)

April 28, 1942 - April 21, 2022

Ann Marie passed away peacefully on April 21,2022 with her 3 daughters by her side.

She was predeceased by her husband Roy Stronski and brother Donovan. She is survived by sisters Edythe Huffman (Ed Stephens), and Betty Vermue (Bill); three daughters, Sandra Plouffe (Stacy), Debbie Wyatt (Curt), and Pam Stronski; along with her seven cherished grandchildren, Colt, Mason, Camryn, Ashley (Jared), Aaron, Connor, and Taylor; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba to Elsie and Reginald Grobb. She was a clever preschool girl, very eager to learn. By the time she was old enough to attend school she was placed in Grade 2.

Ann Marie had amazing musical talent, playing the piano in bands throughout her school life where Roy was her biggest fan, later becoming an accomplished teacher and music teacher in both the St. James and Assiniboine South School Divisions. She was instrumental in the creation of and was the pianist for the Assiniboine South Youth Choir which is still active today.

Community and friendships were very important to Ann Marie. She was actively involved in her community as a volunteer and enjoyed bridge club and curling with friends. In her retirement she was a devoted caregiver to her mother and loved spending time with her grandchildren both in Manitoba and BC where she and Roy enjoyed spending their winters.

She has left us with so many wonderful memories and her clever and witty sense of humor will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Family Home for the wonderful care she received over the last 5 years. Our deepest gratitude also goes to family friend Rebecca for her love and devotion in caring for our mom.

Cremation has taken place, burial and reception in Portage La Prairie will follow this summer.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.

Ann Marie’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

We were the luckiest people when Curt and Debbie met and we, then, met Roy and Ann Marie. Planning a wedding together was fun and there were so many fun memories to follow. We are missing them immensely and are very grateful to have very many fond memories of our friendship together. [ In Ukrainian our relationship with them (parents of a child’s spouse) is known as “svatee”; there is no English term that matches.] Our love and hugs to Sandy, Debbie, Pamela snd their families. ❤

My sympathy to the Stronski Girls Sandy, Debbie & Pam and your families. Anne Marie was so full of life and had a quick wit. Always a smile on her face. She taught both my Daughter's Tracy & Trina piano. What a talented Lady. When she played she owned the piano. Cherish all your memories. Sincerely, Lois MacDiarmid

Ann Marie & I were Assiniboine South School Division colleagues way back in the day! Her laugh and love of life was contagious. She instilled the joy and love of music in all who she came in to contact with. Deep sympathies to her family and friends. May fond memories support you in the days ahead.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Stronski family. ❤ I can still see Mrs. Stronski's face beaming while she bopped around, playing so talentedly on the piano. Looking back, it was a true blessing to have experienced her sharing such love and support for music with us kids. Her positivity and encouragement towards music have accompanied me throughout my life. I still recall, too, some of the practices and performances in the Assiniboine South Youth Choir with her accompaniment on piano while Mrs. Bratland directed us.  MuchLove

While I have not had an opportunity to interface with Roy and Ann Marie for some many years I do recall meeting her the first time when she was first dating Roy. As my brother married Roy's sister Connie, I did spend some time with her on occasion and always felt Roy was very lucky to have her in his life. On behalf of my family I would like to express our sincere condolences to Roy and the extended families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of grief.

So both Ann Marie and Roy were more than friends to me - I recall having a huge "crush" on her in about Grade 7 (although like;y was too shy to tell her!) We were distant cousins one supposes, via my maternal Grandmother Annie Grobb/Yuill - I love the picture of she and Roy  in partymode - because Roy was one of the craziest guys I had the pleasure to play hockey with - "back in the fifties"! It makes my eyeballs "sweat" to think about them! Not surprised to learn how musical Ann Marie was-seems to have run all through the family tree!

I remember serving Ann Marie at the RBC in Charleswood and she had a cheque payable to her from Elsie Grobb. I asked her if she knew her and she said that Elsie was her Mother.  Then I told her that Grobb was my Maiden name.  So we were relatives.  My Sister Bev has their names in h the Grobb  history research.  Also I went to so many funerals where Elsie played the organ. Condolences to all the family.

Our deepest sympathy to Sandy, Debbie , Pam and families.  I have so many happy memories of Anne Marie; outings when our children were small,  playing bridge as a women’s foursome , curling in a small country bonspiel and celebrating on New Year’s Eve. Colleen, Michelle and I are together reminiscing of fun times with the Stronski family  and remembering Anne Marie as a piano teacher and then later as Michelle’s school music teacher.  She was so thoughtful, engineering a speaking part for Michelle when she auditioned for the school musical. Thinking of a good friend. Virginia and Roy Johnson

Mr and Mrs Stronski were our neighbours in Charleswood. They spent years watching 5 girls (3 of theirs and my sister and I). Ann was an awesome lady and, even though we hadn't seen each other for a long time, will be thouroghly missed. Much love to the family from the Kucheran's.❤

I feel terribly for all of those who knew and loved Mrs. Stronski. What an amazing story she wrote and while I only know Pam, Ashley and Aaron, she was clearly an amazing mother and grandmother.  My deepest, heartfelt condolences to all affected by her loss. It would seem that would be many, many people and creatures.

So sorry to hear of Ann Marie's passing.  We had several wonderful visits with Ann Marie and Roy in Portage, Winnipeg, and Calary at the Huffman's.  She had a wonderful smile.  Have attached a photo of a particularly memorable "dance" shared by Ann Marie and Wayne in "The Hamptons".  Our sincere condolences to all the Stronski girls and their families, as well as to Edie and Betty Jean. Oh, how I remember this dear lady, and that she was. Fingers on the keys, she accompanied me many a time as I sang, through high school and after at the PCI reunions. Field days, cheerleading, Trinity United Church Choir, jiving, laughing and being teenage friends. It’s a technicolor memory I treasure.  Deepest condolences to all the family, especially the grandkids. I also am blessed to have seven and they love their Gramma’s. God’s Blessings, Julianne Danner ( Salay)
