MARIE ANTOINETTE (TONI) YVONNE STROPPA
1929 - 2026
Peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2026 our Mom, Marie Antoinette (Toni) Yvonne Stroppa passed away at Concordia Hospital.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, Richard (Emily), Gerard (Heather), Judy (Bill), Edward and Mark, grandchildren Ria (Chris), Mason (Ashley), Murphy, Denise (Aaron),and Stephanie (Colin) plus great-grandchildren Brodrick and Avery, sisters Irma (George), Mona (Richard), Angele and brother Maurice (Lynda) plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon; her parents, four brothers, and six sisters.
Mom was born in Richer, Manitoba in 1929 and was the second oldest of fifteen children. Growing up on a farm with a large family, she acquired many life skills such as cooking, baking, sewing, and looking after children - her younger siblings. These skills prepared Mom for when she had her own family.
Mom and Gordon were together for 35 years. During this time, they spent many summers at Gordon’s childhood home in Birnie, Manitoba where they would plant a huge garden giving them vegetables to last through the winter. They enjoyed playing horseshoes, bingo, cards and going to dances or getting together with friends and family.
After Gordon passed away in 2006, Mom kept busy baking, playing bingo, making jigsaw puzzles, doing word search puzzles, knitting and getting together with family and friends. She often travelled with Judy, Bill and Stephanie to Wisconsin Dells, Florida, Mexico, and Hawaii and was always up for an adventure - rides at Disney World, tubing on a lazy river, paddle boats, luaus and fiestas.
Mom had some favourite tv shows and would often say “they’re clean shows”. There were game shows such as The Price is Right, Let's Make A Deal, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy plus Hudson and Rex, Law & Order, Chicago Med, Fire and Police, Seinfeld, and even Family Feud with Steve Harvey. She would often jokingly say 'Hello, I’m Steve Harvey.”
Mom, you will always be with us
- in our hearts and in our memories.
Till we meet again.
The family thanks the staff of Concordia Hospital for the care given to our mother throughout her stay.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 8 at the Transcona Legion #7, 117 Regent Avenue East, Winnipeg.
Final Resting Place: Riverside Cemetery in Neepawa, Manitoba.
God looked around His garden
And found an empty space,
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face,
He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain,
He knew the road was getting rough,
And the hills were too hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered “Peace to thine”
It broke our hearts to lose you.
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home

Toni was a unique person and was a great partner for my Uncle Gordon
she had a caring heart for all that knew her. She always kept in touch with everyone to show her caring. We were blessed to have known her.
