It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, nephew, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Todd, who passed away on July 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.

To know Todd was to know a man with a curious mind, a passion for whatever caught his interest, and a general enthusiasm for life. He was always thinking about his next idea, starting a project, following a sport or music show, or finding something new to talk about. He worked hard, loved deeply, laughed often, and had a way of making even the simplest conversation memorable. He could turn a quick visit into a long conversation filled with stories, opinions, laughs, or even an offer to lend a hand. He was the kind of person people remembered long after meeting him.

Above all, Todd loved his family deeply. He was immensely proud of his three girls and took great joy in watching them grow into the women they became. Todd was a man who worked hard, sometimes perhaps too hard, and spent much of his life trying to build a life for his family. He loved fiercely, quietly, and unconditionally, and there was never a doubt about how proud he was of the people he loved.

Todd shared a particularly special bond with his Auntie Irene. As the first of his generation of nieces and nephews, he had a close relationship with her throughout his entire life. After the loss of her husband, Uncle Bill, that bond became even more important. Todd made a point of picking Irene up every weekend and bringing her to spend time with our family, making sure she was never alone and always had a place at the table. Those weekends became a cherished part of family life, and the love and connection they shared were truly special. Irene was not simply his aunt—she was an important part of Todd’s life, and he was an important part of hers.

Todd was also a lifelong sports fan and loved just about every sport there was. But hockey held a particularly special place in his heart. Hockey was more than a game to him—it was about teamwork, friendship, competition, and being part of something bigger than yourself. He took great pride in being a captain, embracing the responsibility of leading his teammates both on and off the ice. Those who played alongside him knew they could count on him, and the friendships and memories he made through hockey remained important to him throughout his life.

Todd and his wife, Cathy, shared a special bond over their love of hockey. He loved hearing her perspective on the games and was always over the moon to share their passion and understanding of the sport. Whether he was playing, watching, cheering from the sidelines, or talking about the latest game, sports always gave Todd something to be passionate about.

For many years, Todd was a familiar face in Winnipeg’s automotive community. He proudly owned Pyramid Audio before founding Best Mobile Electronics, where his honesty, unmatched workmanship, and genuine care for his customers earned him friendships that lasted a lifetime. To many, he wasn’t just the person who installed their remote starter or solved an electrical problem—he became someone they trusted and looked forward to seeing. His reputation wasn’t built by advertising; it was built on integrity, word of mouth, and the kind of character that can’t be taught.

When he wasn’t working, there was nowhere Todd would rather be than at the cabin.

The cabin wasn’t just a place to him—it was home in a different way. It was where his shoulders relaxed, where music filled the air, where a Caesar tasted better on the dock, and where all his favourite projects were worked on. It was where family gathered, stories were shared, and countless memories were made.

Todd had an extraordinary gift with animals. They seemed to understand something in him that people did too—a gentle, patient, and caring nature that made them feel safe around him. Over the years, he was lucky enough to have many grand fur babies in his life, and he loved each of them dearly. Their companionship brought him so much happiness, and during his battle with cancer, their presence brought him comfort on some of his hardest days.

Among them was Lucy, who shared a particularly special bond with Todd. There was something unmistakable about the connection between the two of them. She loved being near him, and he adored her right back. Whether she was keeping him company, lying beside him, or simply sitting nearby watching as he worked, Lucy had a way of bringing him comfort and making him smile. She will miss Todd deeply, and we know that, in her own way, she will continue to look for him and wonder where he is. Todd will always be a part of her life, just as she was such a special part of his.

Music was another language Todd spoke fluently. He loved every note, every lyric, and especially the way it sounded through a top-notch sound system. He started playing the accordion at the young age of five and later progressed to the saxophone and just about every other instrument he could get his hands on. Todd played in a band in his younger days, travelling from town to town and playing everything from graduations to riverboats to weddings. Even after cancer took away his ability to sing, his family never stopped hearing his voice. Every familiar song still carries him with it, and every harmony feels like a gentle reminder that love doesn’t disappear when someone is gone.

Todd faced cancer with extraordinary courage. Even as his body became weaker, his love for his family never wavered. He fought with everything he had because he wanted more time with the people he loved most. His strength wasn’t measured by the battles he won, but by the grace, resilience, and selflessness he showed through every difficult day. He was, and always will be, our hero.

One of the greatest gifts his family will carry forever is knowing that he was never alone. Through months in the hospital and every step of his illness, he was surrounded by support. His wife and daughters walked beside him every day, making sure he always knew how deeply he was loved. Caring for him was the greatest privilege of their lives.

Todd leaves behind a legacy far greater than anything that can be measured. It lives on in every lesson he taught without words, every person he helped without expecting anything in return, every laugh, every song that reminds us of him, and every summer spent at the cabin with the people he loved most.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Cathy; his daughters, Melanie (Kevin), Danielle (Will), and Nicole (Frankie); his sister, Barbara (Wade); his aunts, Irene and Erica; his nieces and nephews; his extended family; and countless friends, customers, and colleagues whose lives are better because they knew him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all our friends, family, and neighbours, both at the lake and at our home in Winnipeg. Without your compassion, kindness, and amazing support, we couldn’t have made it through this journey.

In the end, Todd’s life was made up of so many different chapters—some easy, some difficult, and all part of the story of the man he was. He was a hard worker, a passionate hockey player and sports fan, an animal and music lover, and a friend to many.

We will always carry the memories of the good times we had with Todd, the lessons he taught us, and all the little pieces of him that became part of who we are. His absence will be felt in the quiet moments, around the dinner table, and in all the ordinary moments when we instinctively wish we could call him, laugh with him, ask him how to fix something, or just hear what he had to say.

His wife, Cathy, his daughters, family, friends, teammates, colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of knowing Todd will each carry their own memories of him. We will each miss different pieces of Todd, but together, those memories make up the life he leaves behind.

Todd is now reunited in peace with those who went before him, including his beloved mom, Dorothy; his dad, Bill; his sister, Margo; her husband, Steve; his Auntie Aggie; her husband, Uncle Chuck; and his Uncle Bill. We take comfort in imagining them together again, surrounded by love, sharing stories, laughter, and the warmth of being family once more. May he be welcomed home with open arms and rest in the gentle peace of their everlasting reunion.

We hope that in the years ahead, we can continue to celebrate the parts of Todd that brought us joy—and know that because of those memories, a part of him will always be there with us.

Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we are grateful for the years we were given with him and for the memories that will remain with us forever.
