In Loving Memory of
SUSAN JAMES

March 28, 1952 – October 1, 2025

With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Susan Isobel James on October 1, 2025, at the age of 73. She was the beloved wife of Arthur James for 53 years, having shared a life full of love and laughter since their marriage on May 25, 1972.

Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Susan was raised in a military family, moving frequently and experiencing a childhood full of adventure. She was the loving sister of Terry Pearce and sister-in-law of Mary. Over the years, she shared a special bond with her brother and his family, including her nephews, whose children were also dear to her. While her life eventually took her to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she built a home and a family of her own, her connection to her sibling and extended family remained strong throughout her life.

Her unwavering care and dedication to her children and grandchildren created lasting bonds. She was always there to teach and guide her sons, supporting them in their sports and sharing her love of camping with them. Brad, who blessed her with two grandchildren, Natasha and Nathan, and Chris, who, along with his wife Kasia, brought two more cherished grandchildren into her life, Hana and Thomas, each held a special place in her heart.

Susan’s greatest joy in life was her family, and she enjoyed spending time together and creating memories with her loved ones. She also found peace and contentment in the simple pleasures of life: tending to her garden, enjoying quiet moments at home, and sharing her love with her canine companions.

For many years, Susan worked as an Executive Assistant at Winpak, where she formed lifelong friendships with colleagues. Her kindness, work ethic, and warmth left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Susan's legacy is one of caring, loyalty, and a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed by her husband, sons, grandchildren, family, and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A private family service will be held in her honour at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Susan’s memory may make donations to Diabetes Canada, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or The Winnipeg Humane Society.

Susan’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Art, I'm so very sorry to hear of Sue's passing, quite a shock to me! Enjoyed our years at Winpak & the many chit chats we had there. Sue was a kind & gentle soul, and was willing to help in any situation. She will certainly be missed. Condolences also to your sons Brad & Chris & their families.

I was very fortunate to have had Sue as a friend, starting with our careers at Winpak and a friendship that continued over the years. I always enjoyed her bubbly and caring personality at our get-togethers with work buddies, lunches with our friend Arlie that included many talks about life, our families and how proud we were of our children and grandchildren. Sue’s passion for gardening was evident in their beautiful gardens and especially this year when her sweet peas grew much taller than her!

Sue was such a lovely person and will be sadly missed. My sincerest sympathy to her loving family. No words can express how much I will miss her friendly smile.

Dear Art, Brad, Chris & Family,

So shocked and saddened to hear of Susan's passing. It has been years since seeing any of you, but I have never forgotten your beautiful family that lived two doors down from us and the good times we shared as our children grew up on our street in St. James. Susan was a wonderful lady, terrific Mom and a lovely friend to have - she will be missed by so many. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss - may your memories bring you some measure of peace and comfort.
