CAROLE SWAYZE

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Carole Swayze on December 20, 2023.

Carole was born on November 23, 1939, in Kaleida, Manitoba. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Grace Lone and was preceded in death by her parents, husband Les Swayze, and brother Wayne Lone.

Carole’s joy in life was her family. Remembering her with love are her daughters Cathy Weaver (John) and Connie Swayze (Ramon), along with her five grandchildren, Bradley (Julianne) Weaver, Kelby Weaver, Jessica Ayre, Ashelyn (Jake) Ayre, and Aimee (Kylann) Selent, and ten great-grandchildren.

Carole was a kind soul with a generous heart. She was a loving and devoted wife to Les for 55 years. She was a natural caregiver to all of her family. She cared for Les in his final years and he told her many times that she looked after him better than any nurse or hospital staff ever could. In her younger years she loved to volunteer in her daughters activities; baton, dance, baseball, ringette and anything they were involved in. Later in life she never missed the opportunity to watch her grandchildren in their activities. She was their biggest Fan!

She truly loved spending time with her family wherever they were. Her trips to Vancouver to visit her brother Wayne and his family were always a highlight for her.  In 2016 Carole was delighted to go on a trip to Mexico with her entire family for Brad and Julianne’s wedding, she was the honoured Grandma to all 80 guests. Over the years she was lovingly called Grandma by her children and grandchildren’s friends.

Carole’s hobbies included cooking, baking, bingo, jigsaw puzzles and going to the Casino. She always made sure to bring her “famous” dishes to family gatherings which everyone so much enjoyed; pineapple delight, shortbread, peanut butter squares, veggie pizza, and shepherd's pie!

The family cottage was Carole’s favourite place. Many weekends were spent at the lake with family and friends. Carole was always ready to feed whoever showed up, whether it was two people or twenty. The grandchildren spent many summers at the cottage with Grandma and Grandpa and deeply cherish those memories. At the lake Carole was often found on an air mattress with her dog floating on the water for hours, but was usually in the kitchen and taking care of the babies.

Carole will always be remembered for her kind and selfless nature. She had an enormous love for her family and her pets. Carole’s quiet nature and inner strength made her our family rock who was always there to support, love and encourage us whenever we needed.

Our Mom was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love and generosity will never be forgotten.

To honor Mom’s wishes there will be no formal service.

The family would like to thank the staff at Jocelyn House for the care and compassion they gave Mom. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Carole Swayze to Jocelyn House Hospice, 177 Egerton Ave, Wpg. MB. R2M 2W7

So sorry for your loss ,my condolences to Cathy and Connie and their families. My thoughts are with you and yours. Carole was wonderful caring and thoughtful person. I have many fond memories of visits with Carole and Les growing up. When I was older and moving into the city to attend school,Carole took me under her wing. She kept me fed, drove me to school and showed me the ropes of getting around in the big city , until I could get established and move my family city. I could always count on a smile and words of encouragement from her. Carole and Les were always there to lend a helping to us through out the their remaining years. Rest in peace Aunt Carole, you will be missed. Say hi to kinfolk up there.❤

Connie and Cathy, inside each of you lives a beautiful soul that your kind and generous hearted Mom planted, the seeds of which carry on in her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Your Mom was special, one of the really good ones and we are all a lot less fortunate to have lost her.  Our thoughts are with you both, Ramon and John and all of families.  Barb and Kevin

Such a shock, knowing her and Les as wonderful loving friends and neighbors, at one time, to my wife Dale and I. To list memories would take pages, I guesshow Zhe would tell Les to settle down when we got together, Les a.ways calling my wife :frenchy:, one of the memory,s was her chocolate cake and brown sugar icing. Such a kind hearted and .owing friend, her and the family were an extended family to my wife and myself.❤❤❤
