RONALD “RON” TAYLOR

May 1, 1961 - January 31, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Ron Taylor, at Health Sciences Centre, Friday, January 31 at the age of 63.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Roxanne Klymkiw Taylor, his precious daughter Stephanie, his mother Agnes Norrman (Carl) of Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba, his siblings Angela, Steven, and Monica, along with their children, his two cherished aunties Adeline and Evelyn, many cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends. Ron was predeceased by his father Roy Taylor and his in-laws Bohdan and Josephine Klymkiw.

Ron was born in Winnipeg and shortly after moved to Lac Du Bonnet Manitoba. As a child, he was able to spend his formative years in Delta and Richmond BC and, later, the family moved back to Lac Du Bonnet. At the tender age of sixteen, Ron moved to Winnipeg to pursue his radio dream.

At the young age of 16, Ron began his radio career as an all-night announcer at CKY Radio where he would eventually work his way up through the ranks until he left in the early 80’s. Meeting many mentors there, such as Don Percy, the late great Ron Able, and his dear and cherished friend, the late Roy Hennessy, to name just a few. Years later, Ron would once again work with Roy Hennessy at Shore 104, a personal highlight of Ron’s career.

Ron’s ability to learn and adapt to technology and an obvious ease with people found him at Oakwood Media Touch (OMT) installing digital broadcast systems with a man Ron considered to be another mentor, Ron Paley. Ron had a natural ability to coach individuals, instill confidence in new processes and systems, and had an unparalleled ability to find success in the most challenging environments.  As his close friend Doug Anderson used to say, “Ron could build a radio station from a pile of toothpicks! “

In the mid-2000’s, Ron got a call to set up a station in Terrace BC and, along with close friend Barry Wall, he would operate the station CFNR for many years. He made many lifelong friends in Terrace, as well.

Until recently, Ron worked for Xpiri, formerly Arctic Palm, for founder and close friend Stu Buck (now retired). In later years, Ron travelled to the Arctic and was setting up radio stations as recently as 2023. Most recently, Ron provided on-air and traffic logs for radio stations in Canada and the US with his partner Sheila Fields.

Ron’s tax business, Accurate Canadian Tax, was introduced in the 90’s and saw success for almost 40 years.  Ron was most fond of his clients and valued those relationships tremendously.

Ron and Roxanne met in the radio world. In 1985, they married and welcomed their precious daughter Stephanie into the world in 1990. Stephanie is definitely her father’s daughter! Ron and Rox were lucky enough to travel to many different destinations, meet hundreds of wonderful people, and collect memories and friends that proved invaluable through time.

Ron was larger than life… always laughing, with many a story to tell. His love of radio was surpassed only by his love for Roxanne and Stephanie. Ron loved with all his heart, laughed from his very soul, and valued every person who took time to talk and share.  A large man with an even larger personality, the relationships made on his travels were testament to the warmth, respect, and value that Ron brought to everyone in his circle.

We will miss you like crazy, Ron…rest easy!

The family would like to thank the nurses and health care aids from GA3 at HSC for caring for Ron these last 9 months. Also, thanks to Dr. Tan. Special thanks to his client/friend Walter Hyworon, who visited Ron almost daily these last few months.

Remember Ron through the memories you made together.

No service will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care MB or Juvenile Diabetes.

There are no words that will discribe this loss, we often say that but in this instance its true,

Ron was larger than life, I was lucky enough to know him for over 30 years and was even fortunate enough to work with Roxanne during her radio days, watched Stephanie grow up into an amazing woman (who Ron often boasted about often) He was very proud of her.

Over the years he he was known by many names"Short Cummings" was one of his favs (due to a resemblance to Burton) he even held the title as the ORIGINAL Great Root Bear. :). Yes, Ron wore many hats, held many titles but always stayed grounded and humble. He was a great freind and an incredible family man and accomplished much in his lifetime so many lives were touched right up until his final days he was surrounded by laptops and other gadgets in his hospital bed, not to keep up on facebook but to make sure taxes, buisiness and friends were all being taken care of.

Words can never say enough about Ron and over the last week I have been in a haze trying to sum up the life of a man who I admired and who had it all in the palm of his hand. Great friends, job(s) he loved and a family that he adored more than anything in the world.

I will truly miss you my friend and you will never be forgotten. My family sends i ts love, prayers, and sympathies to Roxanne , Stepahanie and his entire family . Rest easy Ron and I,ll see you on the other side.

Ron was like a second dad to me. Since the day I met him he welcomed me with open arma, loved me and was Always happy when I'd visit. I appreciate every memory he has brought into my life and will miss him so much. I hope you and my dad are enjoying drinks together laughing about the craziness your daughters got into.
