SPENCER (ROY) TAYLOR

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother and uncle, Spencer (Roy) Taylor, at the age of 74, on July 23, 2026, at Grace Hospital.

Roy was predeceased by his parents, Pearl (Joan) Taylor (née Goodchild) and Wilfred Marley Taylor. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Miriam (Wayne) MacFarlane; brother, Fred (Olivia) Taylor; and sister, Susan (Bill) Lamboo. He will also be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Colleen (Scott) Percival, Tammy (Curtis) MacFarlane, Scott (Nicole) MacFarlane, Ronda Lee Crowe (Nicole), Jennifer (Mike) Fisher, and Daniel (Blythe) Lamboo; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Taylor (Dallen), David, Troy (Sayaka), Brad, Hope, Meghan, Katelynn, Keira, Izzy, and Sam; his great-great-nephew, Tomo; as well as his dear friends, George and Bob.

Born on November 21, 1951, Roy was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in a small, loving home in the heart of St. James, a community he cherished and proudly called home throughout his life.

As an adult, Roy began his career at Eaton’s, where he formed many lasting friendships. He later moved to Medis (McKesson Canada), where he was known for his loyalty, dedication, and strong work ethic, remaining with the company until his retirement.

Many people never knew what a talented artist Roy was. He was humble and rarely recognized his own abilities. He held a lifelong passion for science fiction and fantasy; as a young man, his room was filled with books about space exploration and stories from the worlds of Star Wars and Star Trek. He also loved playing video games, always eager to explore new worlds and adventures. His vivid imagination and curiosity stayed with him throughout his life, and he never lost his sense of humour or his wonder about the mysteries of the universe.

Family meant everything to Roy. He rarely missed a gathering or special occasion until his health began to decline in later years. Roy was truly one of a kind. Whether he arrived wearing a funny tie or carrying the latest gadget or game, he always found a way to make everyone smile. He especially loved making his nieces and nephews laugh with his wonderfully cheesy, off-colour jokes. His playful spirit, gentle heart, and quiet kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. He was deeply loved, and the memories he leaves behind will be treasured forever. He will be profoundly missed and never forgotten.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Grace Hospital for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they showed Roy during his final hours. Your support and comfort will always be remembered with sincere appreciation.

We take comfort in imagining Roy setting off on one final adventure exploring distant galaxies, discovering new worlds, and finding joy among the stars he loved so much. May his journey be filled with wonder, endless adventures, and the peace he so deeply deserves.
