Arthur Teitsma

ARTHUR DUDLEY TEITSMA
January 16, 1968 – March 12, 2026
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Arthur (Art) on March 12, 2026, at the age of 58 after a brief battle with brain cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Sharon (née Duker); and their six daughters, three sons-in-law, and nine surviving grandchildren: Adrienne and Ian Mostert (Talia, Chase, Sadie, Koben), Mikayla and Joey LaFrance (Veronica, Archer), Shaylene, Destaney and Colin Van den Akker (Gwenne, Lyla, Eden), Summer, and Jasmine, together with his five siblings and his mother Annie. He is predeceased by his father Dennis and grandson Charlie.
Arthur was born in Abbotsford, BC but moved with his family to live in Winnipeg before he turned one-year-old. He grew up in Transcona and lived there the rest of his life. When he was just 18 years old, he met the love of his life Sharon and they married in 1990. They enjoyed antiquing excursions, going on long walks after supper, working on house projects, attending Folklorama, and spending time with friends and family.
Arthur was a gifted craftsman whose creativity and precision were most often expressed in his woodworking. His garage workshop was a place where ideas became beautifully finished projects, from the kitchen cabinetry in their home to the sunroom addition he designed and built. He loved his tools and never needed much encouragement to add another router or other tools to his collection. Just as much as building, Arthur enjoyed teaching others, often opening his shop to share his knowledge and help others learn the craft.
Since 1996, Arthur worked at Premier Printing as a customer service representative. He was respected by customers and coworkers alike for his knowledge, integrity, and tireless work ethic. Arthur took the time to understand what his customers truly needed and worked hard to deliver it, always with honesty and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Arthur was outnumbered in his house by his six daughters but always found a way to spend meaningful time with them. Whether it was time in the garage helping with projects, bike rides, attending school sports games, day trips to the beach, road trips to Alberta, playing with Hot Wheels and Lego, or teaching them how to throw a football and shoot a basketball; he always devoted his full attention to make time spent with his girls fun and memorable.
Arthur was passionate, hardworking, generous, with a “get ‘er done” attitude. He spoke plainly and directly, but those who knew him understood the deep care behind his words. A natural protector, he was fiercely devoted to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
Later in life he developed a love for jiu-jitsu, enjoying the challenge, the camaraderie, and the opportunity to test his strength. He also enjoyed collecting, painting, and refurbishing die-cast cars, proudly displaying hundreds of them in his home.
Arthur served faithfully as an elder at Grace Canadian Reformed Church and cared deeply for the members entrusted to his care. Above all, he placed his hope and trust in his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and looked forward to entering his eternal rest with Him.
Though his family feels the deep loss of his presence, they take comfort in knowing that he is now at home with the Lord he loved and served.
"Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands...On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me. " -- Psalm 63
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cornerstone Christian Care Society.
Funeral service will be held at Grace Canadian Reformed Church in Winnipeg on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Interment will occur at Transcona Cemetery earlier that day in a private family service.

Years would pass between our running into each other somewhere in Transcona, but it always felt like just yesterday. Growing up together at Central School and then again at Murdoch Mackay, it was always lovely to chat and hear about your life with your beautiful wife and your lovely six daughters and the life you made together. Rest easy Arthur!

Dear Sharon and family
Out hearts go out to you in your loss!! Our Lord and Saviour, Arthur's fellow carpenter friend and Lord, has welcomed Arthur into His rest. We praise the great Master carpenter for his grace!
We pray fervently that, in His great love and compassion, our Savior well enfold Sharon and her family in His loving embrace, and grace them always with tender care as they grieve the loss of husband and father and grandfather.
May the peace of The Father in Heaven surround you!
Our love
John and Bonita VanPopta

From the young age of 8-12, I had the pleasure of calling Adrienne; Arthur's eldest daughter, my best friend. Living a hop, skip and a jump away from one another, I was often greeted by Mr Tietsma coming through the back door. A place I always felt welcomed. Where I enjoyed seeing what project the Teitsmas were working on, and admiring the hot wheels collection (I even gifted one for his birthday along the way to feel a part of it). I will always remember his voice; like the obituary said he had a "get er done" way of speaking, but I always felt that caring voice that was warm and comforting.
My deepest condolences to all the ladies of this family, the thought of losing a father, the leader of the family breaks my heart. Praise God we can also call him Father and rely on his guidance. The greatest gift Arthur gave to his daughters, the relationship with our heavenly Father and the promise of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As my mother's oldest daughter I feel I must speak on her behalf as she now has dementia. We so mourn with you the loss of Arthur. So shocking for us to feel this with you as our histories over the decades have been so involved in one area or the other. Your family is like going home. Our Mom didn't have many friends but your Mom she trusted. We grieve for her to lay her son to rest. We grieve for Sharon and the children. We grieve for his beloved siblings that we are so connected to. Wish I could be there. Huge prayers and hugs to all.🙏♥️

Sharon and family - I first met Arthur in high school. He was always kind, with a twinkle in his eye. He had a serious tone, matched with a heart of gold and a clever sense of humour. None of that changed over the years! Later through business, it was wonderful to connect with Arthur again. He was reliable and reasonable. Always quick to problem solve if the situation warranted. But most of all, he was a devoted husband, a man proud of his faith, and the utlimate Girl Dad! Your family's loss is truly unimaginable. Together with my husband Ken (who also enjoyed working with Arthur for several years)...we send our heartfelt condolences.

As a graphic designer in Thompson, MB Arthur handled countless print jobs for me regardless of scope and size over the past 25 years for Premier Printing. I only met him twice in person. I appreciated his fair quotes, trustworthy service, and tech help when needed. If I had a question or problem, he would get me an answer. I sincerely send my condolences to his family and employer. Life is not fair at these moments, and I am truly sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

Dear Sharon and family. I have many fond memories of Arthur helping Auke with different projects around our yard. Also the numerous times that he babysat our children. Arthur bought his first car from me - a yellow Dodge Cricket. Wishing you, your children, grandchildren, Arthur's mother Annie and extended family the Lords nearness in this time of immense grief. We grieve but not without hope!! Love from Irma
