DIANNE ELAINE THIESSEN

November 6, 1945 - August 17, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Dianne passed away on August 17th, 2022 at the age of 76 years.

Dianne Thiessen went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, after battling cancer. Dianne is survived by her twin daughters, Terrie(Tony Redekopp), and Tammie, and her brother, Bob Kurtz, sister Joanne(Doug Stimpson), also her 3 precious grandchildren Kate-lyn Redekopp, Matthew and Mason Fehr and other family members.

Mom worked at the Health Sciences Centre for over 30 years and spent her spare time involved in church activities. It was important to mom to give back to others. Mom had a big heart and always helped out wherever she could.  Even in her last days she spent time knitting wheelchair blankets, hats and scarves for others.

We want to say a special thank you to all those at her apartment complex who helped transport Dianne to and from the social lounge and to all those who played cards with her and checked in on her every day.  We extend a very special thank you to her brother, Bob Kurtz, who selflessly transported Dianne to and from her cancer treatments and walked hand in hand with Dianne throughout her journey with cancer.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of donations to Church of the Rock – Missions 1397 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg MB R3T 1L6.

Dianne's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Dianne was a truly kind person who cared about other people and made efforts to help others. I worked with Dianne for many years at HSC and enjoyed many memories together. Sincere Condolences to her family.

I was very sad to learn of Dianne's passing.  I met her 32 years ago when I started my career job in the Dietary Department  at HSC.  We became dear friends immediately. We shared many laughs and many tears over those years.  She had the best laugh and was a great confidant.  I will miss her terribly but take comfort in the fact that she is now reunited with her dear Harry in Heaven.  To her girls, Tony and the grandchildren, please know that you meant the world to her!  Rest in Peace Dianne!  Love you ❤

I was very proud and honoured to be a friend with your mother. We worked in the same department at the HSC for many years and kept in touch many times after we both retired. I miss very much our wonderful talks at McDonald’s and Tim’s.  Rest In Peace my dear friend.   ❤

Dianne has been in our family ever since she married my brother Harry. I remember in my later teens, when I lived in my own apartment, they would often invite me for supper, which I gladly accepted since she was an amazing cook. They also started me on a one-place setting of "Bride's Choice" dinnerware for my hope chest, which is pretty much completed. Especially in the last few years we developed a great relationship. We called each other quite often. I will miss those calls but our loss is heaven's gain. Till we meet again.  Lorna

Any time we visited in Winnipeg , and met with Family and friends , Dianne always despite her physical restrictions would make her best effort to join us!  She was consistently hospitable and ready to share what she had.    Dianne was very proud of her daughters and could not say enough about how they took care of her in last years.  Dianne was thankful to God  For her brother Bob who continually chose to serve her in her cancer . In her Faith,  she was Victorious to the Very End!  Her presence will be missed by many!

We will miss Dianne greatly.  She was a vibrant volunteer of our church and she was zealous in all she did.  Even to the very end of her life, she wanted to serve, pray for and love people. Psalm 116- Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints
