Gary Thompson

GARY ROSS THOMPSON
April 26, 1947 - November 17, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Ross Thompson on November 17, 2025.
Gary leaves to mourn his wife of 56 years, Marleen; brother Keith (Joyce); brother-in-law Leonard (Joann); sisters-in-law, Kathy and Eileen (Wayne); as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ross and Annie; sister Marilyn; and his father- and mother-in-law, Len and Rose Mark.
Many thanks to Dr. Maksymiuk and Tamara of CancerCare Manitoba. Thanks also to the nurses and doctors from the palliative care program.
Gary was born and raised on the family farm near MacGregor Manitoba.
After high school he started working for MTS in a career that lasted for over 32 years. He was proud of his many accomplishments there and made many lifelong friends.
He was a member of the Kinsmen Club, Elks, and served a term as president of the Morden legion. He was a member of the Pembina Valley conservation, tourism, and Morden Chamber of Commerce.
After retiring from MTS, he managed the Minnewaste campground and beach for the town of Morden. Gary and Marleen were fortunate to travel many places, including Australia, Portugal, and Spain, with their close friends Fred and Myrna. Gary and Marleen lived in Morden for 37 years before returning to Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of your choice.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

often for lunch and exploring many eateries. Always such fun conversation catching up. Hoping we will be able to grab lunch again in the future. A true friend.

Gary was a guy who seemed to know a lot about a lot of things - from how to fix something to knowledge of town bylaws. Whatever it was, he had the correct answer. Sending our condolences Marleen from Woodridge Bay.
