LUCILLE MARIE THURSTON

(née CYR)

19.12.1933 – 04.12.2024

Peacefully on December 4th, 2024, Mom passed away with her children by her side. Mom was 15 days shy of her 91st birthday. Mom is predeceased by her loving husband Jim; son Greg; three sisters; and three brothers.

Left to cherish Mom’s memory are her children, Derrick (Shannon), Michelle, Todd (Lori); daughter in law Miriam; her grandchildren, Rikki (Travis), Shae, Brett (Taylor), James, and Erik. Along with her sisters, Ella, Helene, Agnes; and brothers, Marcel, Louis, Paul, Rollie; and many nieces and nephews.

Mom shared an incredible bond with Auntie Ella, not only sisters but best friends. Mom often told Ella she was her hero. Mom was so thankful to have Auntie Helene in her life, she was always ready to listen and help. We are so indebted to Auntie Helene for everything she does, the biggest thank you wrapped in a loving hug. Auntie Aggie, Mom knew she was in your thoughts and prayers, and when you were able to you were there. Uncle Louis, Uncle Paul, Uncle Mars, and Uncle Rollie, all of you entertained Mom with your stories and jokes, the love and laughter you gave her through your many calls brought so much joy to her. Louise, thank you for facilitating “Saturday Afternoons at Ella’s.”

To all of the family and friends who called, stopped by, dropped a line; thank you, Mom appreciated all of you and the time you took to share memories and say goodbye.

We will miss her silent strength, beautiful smile, and grace.

Mom – Saying goodbye to you is so incredibly hard, how do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume and then let them go?

We would like to thank the River East Palliative Care Team, the staff at Seven Oaks 4th Floor Unit 6, and the Maid Team.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A private interment has taken place. A Celebration of Mom’s Life will be held in the New Year.

Lucille’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Lucy was a true friend to me, always open an honest. Enjoyed connecting with her when we went to church together. Remember her laugh and her hot toddy's at christmas and the smell of her stuffed peppers, how they were so good..

Rest in peace, Auntie Lou. You were an incredible lady, and my favorite dance partner at family reunions when I was a little kid. You'll be fondly remembered.

Condolences to you all. ❤️

I have fond memories of growing up with Lucy and living with her and Jim in Regina. In simple terms she was truly a warm good person. My sorrow to her family.

Lucy was our dear sister and sister-in-law and the posted picture tells one everything they need to know about her. She was beautiful, funny, thoughtful and kind, never sought the limelight yet people just naturally gravitated to her. To say she will be missed is an understatement, but she will always be remembered with a smile. Rest in peace xox

An incredibly beautiful and gracious lady. Lou was loved by all who knew her. When I was a teenager she always made me feel special! Love and sympathy to the family.
