Bob Topp

ROBERT (BOB) TOPP
January 13, 1950 – August 22, 2025
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our dad, Robert (Bob) Topp on Friday August 22, 2025, exactly 9 months to the day his bride of 55 years left him. Dad was surrounded by all those who loved him in his final hours.
Dad was born January 13, 1950 in Brandon, Manitoba. From the beginning dad was a big guy, with a big personality. He loved to tell his kids and grandkids stories of his days in Brandon and the mischief he would get into or the various kinds of jobs he had when he was a teen. The bigger the audience the grander the story.
After dad married our mom, Sandra, he moved to Winnipeg where he started his career at McDiarmid Lumbar and then Olympic Building supplies as a building contractor, mostly for northern communities. During this time dad built strong working and personal relationships with his clients and was lovingly called the great white spirit.
Dad loved to hit the open road and go for long drives in the country (especially with his dad), or take trips with his family. Dad was famous for his short cuts that he knew usually ended up being the longest possible way there. He would just laugh and say well wasn’t it a beautiful ride.
Dad loved playing hearts with his buddies, going out for breakfast, chatting with just about anyone, the Winnipeg blue bombers, the casino, but mostly he loved his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, and he would do anything for them.
Grieving the loss of their grandpa are Jordan (Kailyn) Boulet, Mikaela (Lucas) Boulet, Chase (Tayla) Thomas, Jacob Gates, Abigail Gates, Dylan (Jasmyn) Nicol, Angus Nicol and Jesse and Jayden Ivey.
Dads loss has the shattered the lives of his four girls, Kim (Georges) Boulet, Kerri (Scott) Gates, Kristy (Ryan) Nicol and Pamela Logan. He was our invincible man, our problem solver, our hero. His loss so quickly after mom has been a shock that will be felt for a long time.
He also leaves to mourn his loving sister, Norma Roziere and her family.
His brother and sister in laws, Marianne (Al) Campbell, Gus (Barb) Mauws, Mike (Darlene) Mauws, Gerry Mauws and many nieces and nephews who will miss their uncle Bob.
And friends who are like family Benny & Dianne, Tony and family and his bonus daughter Audra.
He rejoins our mom Sandra and his parents Alice and Bob Topp. As well as two brother in laws, Johnny and Norman. Along with many other family and friends.
We would like to thank pastor Tim and the entire staff at southeast personal care home as well as the staff at Grace hospital ICU.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 18, 2025 at the St. Norbert Eagles club, 3459 Pembina Hwy. Please feel free to wear your favourite Bomber gear. In lieu of flowers we ask that you make funny faces at little kids, play a game of cards, cheer extra loud for the bombers, have a big belly laugh, be kind to a stranger or take your grandkids for ice cream.
Dad, you will be so very missed.
Bob’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I had the privilege of occasionally working with Bob when he was with Olympic Building. He was one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, with a heart and soul of gold.
My deepest condolences to the family he loved so much.

Our deepest condolences to all the family. We bowled with Bob and Sandra many years ago. They were so much fun. Bob gave me his 700 pin as he said I would never get one. Sorry to hear of your Mom's passing as well. She used to babysit our daughter Tanya. Thinking of you at this sad time...Barbara Rideout

Bob was a very positive influence in my life.We loved/hated doing battle at hearts but boy did we have a lot of belly laughs. Because of Bob I got to see the extreme natural beauty of the north. I am pretty sure one of Bob,s biggest regrets was not driving my brother and I out to the middle of nowhere when we were in the back of a paddy wagon at Fort Severen around midnight on a cold blizzard night while he was safe and warm in the front seat(long story). We shared a bunch of experiences together and I join all who feel the sadness of Bob being gone. I also join in celebrating that Bob was here with us. Say hello to Roscoe and feel free to sit on his oxygen line if he gets out of hand. With love....Bruce and Odette North

I am so sorry for your loss. I was also saddened to hear that your mom had passed away. I was neighbours with your parents when they lived on centennial in Co-Op Housing. I remember fondly all the fun we had. Especially your mom and I. You guys were very young and I had a young son Donald. My heart breaks for your families.

i played many games of hearts with Bob. I often thought that we could sell tickets to those games. Nobody would believe that you could get so angry at a person and scream at them for giving you the "queen" when they should have given it to someone else.
Then at the end of the night, a sudden calm came over everyone and it was "same time next week"?
I know his hearts friends will miss those games but they won't forget the memories.

I'm very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I first worked with Bob as a supplier to him at McDiarmid Lumber and then I then worked with him at Olympic from 1991 until his retirement. He always talked with great joy and pride about his children and grandchildren.
May your memories help you thru this difficult time.

I learnt alot from Bob and I would not have a career at Olympic building center if it wasn't for him giving me a chance and teaching me the ropes. I treasure the many stories and road trips to the communities with him
My condolences to the family I know he treasured
Andre

Remembering our trips to Shooting Star Casino, listening to Bob's stories, Bob and Henry's belly laughs and the endless poolside snack table. I know your sorrow having lost both parents within months also. You girls took good care of them. So sorry for your loss and take care.
