RONALD JOHN TRICKETT

Ron passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with dementia. The eldest son of Thomas and Phyllis, Ron, was born and raised on a farm in Eden, Manitoba with his younger brother Brian. Ron often shared good memories of his time on the farm despite not having much money. He often spoke of having to share a bike with Brian, walking across the field to school, visiting Granny on the next farm, being given a dime to buy a treat and heading into Neepawa on a Saturday night.

As a young man, Ron spent his time playing baseball and hockey, hunting and trapping. He often spoke of the time he played baseball “under the flood lights in Brandon”.

After attending Brandon University, he was hired by Greyhound Bus Line where he spent 35 years, retiring with a perfect driving record. Not wanting to leave his driving days behind, he bought a motorhome and continued to drive for pleasure, vacationing in Manitoba and Arizona.

Ron was a people person. He enjoyed meeting people whether on the bus, or during his trips to Europe, Branson, the states and a cruise to Alaska. A fixture on his street, Ron was always willing to chat on his front step or help a neighbour in need. To Ron, everyone was simply a friend that he had not yet met.

Predeceased by his first wife Irene, brother Brian (Dorothy), brother-in-law Ronnie, sister-in-law Pat, and brothers-in-law Allan and Raymond (Helen), Ron is mourned by his wife Marilyn, step-daughter Tami, Dave and their children Kendal, Klaten, Ashton and Nickolas, who brought him so much joy in his life. Also left to mourn his passing are his sister-in-law Linda, brother-in-law Kevin, close friend Rose Swidzinski, the Sinnock, Moore and Hoosain families, many nieces and nephews and Marilyn’s family: Terry (Karen) and Leslie. He will also be fondly remembered by his Moore Avenue family, Kurt (Lynn) and Dave (Cheryl) and their families.

According to Ron’s wishes, no funeral will be held.
