CYNTHIA GAIL TYMCHAK

(née POPOFF)

It is with the upmost saddest sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Gail Tymchak( Popoff) on August 25, 2023. Wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Alex; sons, Jeremiah (Naomi Fransisco) and Adam; daughter Jessica (Jason Yager); grandsons, Xavier, Jace and Dominic; sister Barb (John) Kresowaty  of  Red Deer Alberta; brother Wes (Nancy) Popoff of Swift Current Saskatchewan; brothers and sisters in laws, Joe  (Joann)Tymchak,  Dan ( Roseanne) Tymchak, Viva (Jim) Young, Tracy Wynnyk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cynthia was predeceased by her parents William and Alma Popoff.

Cyn and Alex met while she worked at the Main St. Shell station where a romance ensued. They knew it was a love meant to be and with in the year, they married, September 3, 1977. She worked for a short time at Samovor restaurant, until their first bundle of joy arrived. She enjoyed every minute of being an at home mom as their family grew. She was always supporting and loving her children, transporting them to hockey games and sporting events, dance and baton classes, where ever the kids needed to go. She was always rooting them on. When she wasn’t busy doing that, she was busy entertaining and enjoying family or on quiet moments would do her knitting or bingo.  Once her children were grown, she went back to school to receive her high school diploma. She was very proud of herself, as well as the rest of us. Cyn, as she was lovingly called by her family, got a job at the James Richardson Airport for the cleaning company. After three years working there she was transferred to their virology lab. Because of her hard work and dedication, she was offered a promotional position. They trained her to be a lab tech assistant. She so enjoyed this job until 2011 when she lost her hearing.  She was made to go on disability until retirement. Now she had all the time she needed to take up a new hobby of shopping so she could spoil and spend time with her grandchildren even more so.

There are no words to express how much Cyn was loved and will be missed by her Husband and family.

We wish to thank all the caregivers at the Grace Hospital ICU unit for the empathy and compassion.

I remember Cyn from our Boyd Park days … being on the board of directors with her and Alex, we were run ragged most days with Adam and my Mollie in walkers while we worked the canteen … hockey, baseball, baton, socials, fundraising til people ran the other way when they saw us coming … Travelling for baton … hours of driving … always had so much to talk about we rarely had a radio on …sewing costumes til our fingers ached … Hockey parent parties … we had so many laughs … planting flowers around the community centre (that everyone said would get destroyed.. they didn’t) was such a great way and place to raise our kids …  Such a wonderful woman… gone way to soon … God Bless you Cyn … Fondly loved and remembered  Colleen Erickson
