Beverley Tytgat

BEVERLEY “BEV” ANNE TYTGAT
July 20, 1943 – April 24, 2025
On April 24th, 2025, in the presence of her loving family, Beverley Anne Tytgat was released from the shackles of her pain and under her own terms passed away peacefully in her home at Concordia Village and flew away to be with her God in Heaven.
Bev is survived by her husband and soul mate of 41 years, John Tytgat; her son Cameron Tytgat (Donna); and daughter Candice Semeniuk (Joel); as well as her grandchildren, Jenna & Ethan, and Joshua & Gabriel. She is also survived by her sister Ellen; sister-in-law Ida; and her aunt Brenda; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bev always felt blessed to have been given the gift of her adopted children and her 4 wonderful grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. Being able to say goodbye to those that meant the world to her was also a gift she didn’t take for granted.
Bev was born and raised in Winnipeg, graduating from Gordon Bell high school.
As her young family was growing up, Bev & John spent happy times at her mother’s cottage at White Lake and enjoyed many family camping trips as well as the odd downhill ski vacation.
Bev enjoyed travelling throughout her life to new places and visited France, Great Britain, several cities in the US, as well as enjoying warm Caribbean destinations, some on numerous occasions. She also visited and loved many locations throughout Canada.
John’s work took them on new adventures, and Bev & John lived in several places, including Winnipeg, The Pas, Montreal, and St. Albert, AB. where Bev’s bright light, positive energy and social nature quickly drew people to her, allowing her to meet and enjoy new friends and activities.
Bev was always active in social activities and sports throughout her life. She was an accomplished swimmer and scuba diver, becoming the first female scuba diving instructor in Manitoba, teaching and certifying others in the sport and being honoured as Diver of the Year by the Lieutenant Governor. She also loved walking and skiing of every kind, water, as well as downhill and cross country. Bev also participated in curling later in life, but her main love was golf.
Bev loved to golf and was an active member of the Wildwood Golf Club in Winnipeg, Sturgeon Valley in St. Albert AB, and finally Larter’s Golf and Country Club which she loved dearly and was a very active member in the Ladies league.
Bev worked in administration in different schools throughout her career in the St James- Assiniboia School Division and finished her career at Balmoral Hall. Her stellar level of organization and efficiency spilled into all aspects of her life, and she was always asked to help out when the organising of events was needed.
Beverley also had a skill with penmanship and Calligraphy and enjoyed teaching younger students this art for years. Her family enjoyed receiving cards made with her special skills and thoughtful words and cherish them to this day.
After retirement she kept busy volunteering at the food bank in St Albert and later at Siloam Mission in the clothing room and at Easter and Christmas dinners with her family beside her for many years.
Bev spent the last 6 years of her life in Concordia Village, a place and people which she loved dearly. She always felt comfortable and so well treated by the leadership and staff. Bev also appreciated all the support provided by Concordia’s Pastor Hermann Dueck.
Special thanks are given to the team of doctors and specialists who walked alongside Bev during her decades-long health journey, particularly Dr. Jane Dueck, whose compassion and care during these difficult last years was much appreciated by Bev and her family.
As per Bev’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering fulfilling her final wishes will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Lupus Canada, Siloam Mission, or by simply doing a random act of kindness towards someone less fortunate.
We will always miss your wonderful smile and caring nature, and you will live in our hearts forever.
Rest in peace my dear Bevy.
Bev’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Aunty Bev was one of the warmest and kindest people I have ever met. I didn't see her very often but every time I did I felt her radiating love. I remember when I was 8 we took a trip to visit her and uncle Johnny for a week in Montreal and we had such a good time. I wish I could have had the chance to see her one last time and say a proper goodbye, but I'm comforted to know that she went on her own terms, so she got the best she could out of a bad situation and can now be free of pain.

Our deepest condolences to John, Cameron and Candice. Our family has so many wonderful memories from many years of scuba diving/camping trips with Manipogo dive club and water skiing escapades at our place on McConnell Lake. John and Bev were great friends of my parents Brian and Eleanor, and my sister Heather and I grew up knowing them as warm, funny and adventurous companions. It was always a special time when we were all together. Bev, we cherish your memory and you will always be in our hearts.

Up-Beat, cheerful, positive - Bev personifed these words when dealing with family, friends and whatever life threw at her. John, we offer our sincere condolences to you, Cam, Candice and all your family. While Bev's passing is a sad event, we will always cherish the memories of so many happy times - golfing and curling at Wildewood as well as golf trips to Hecla, Falcon and Vancouver Island, (ah, yes, the wiener-mobile) come quickly to mind. We all have been so fortunate to have known and loved her. "Fight, fight, for old Gordon Bell....."

Bev, you always greeted me with the kindest smile and warmest hug. Whenever I'd have a moment to chat you always expressed such genuine appreciation and gratitude along with kind words that made my day a little bit brighter. I have kept all your beautifully written birthday/christmas cards since the very beginning and the sweet messages in every single one are what I've cherished. I will always remember your kindness, your caring words, your beautiful smile and joyful presence. John, my heart aches alongside you for your loss. Always know that you both are loved by soo many. My deepest condolences to the entire Tytgat family.

We are all so lucky to have had the wonderful experience of a “Bev Tytgat” in our lives. She made the good times great, the tough times bearable and she was always a supportive influence. I first met Bev in 1988 and right from the get-go she made me feel special. Over the last 37 years our friendship remained steadfast, regardless of where she was in Canada. We always kept in touch and picked up right where we left off. OMG you can imagine the laughter, and the talks, and the memories. A student once complimented Bev with a quote from Maya Angelou “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget the way you made them feel” and Bev had that oh so wonderful gift of making us all feel special. Thank you for being a friend….

John anyone that knew Bev will miss her charismatic personality! Despite many discomforts, disapointments and much pain, she always conveyed an attitude of cheerfulness and love to anyone she encountered.. We're grateful for the many years of friendship, we've had with you and Bev at Country Villas, and now in our present residence. As you go in your life with sorrow, grief and loneliness, we pray for God's ongoing love and peace to shine upon you. May all of us here at Conc. Village show understanding, empathy and support for the difficult time that you are now experiencing.. Our heartfelt sympathy to you and your loving Family.🙏🏻

Beautiful Bev was an absolute joy of a woman. She had the kindest heart and treated every person in her presence with love, compassion, generosity and showed the most sincere gratitude. The beautifully handwritten birthday carts she lovingly gave to every team member at the Village was such a testament to kindness. I've known and loved thousands of amazing people over my 17 years at the Village but John and Bev have a very special spot in my heart. John, we ache for your loss and grieve alongside of you. We love you and you can count on your extended family at the Village to be a loving support network. I'm very blessed to have had the enormous pleasure of knowing dear Bev for 6 years. She leaves behind a lasting legacy.

John, Janice, and I would like to extend our deepest condolences. Bev was a free spirit who brought joy to the lives of those she touched. She did things that could only be explained as "Oh, that was Bev". She had this positive aura about her that extended to everyone around her. We had so many great times together, just good memories. Just know that caring thoughts are with you NOW and always.

Dear lovely, kind, STRONG, and amazing Bev, you will be extremely missed by all of us at Concordia Village.
The first memory I have of you and John at the Village was your first Halloween when you both dressed up as hippies. You looked amazing and both of you had such love for life and all the people at ,Concordia Village! Bev, you remembered every staff member's birthday and we all got a special hug and elegant card made by you and your intricate calligraphy. You knew everyone's names and made sure we all felt special the minute we met you. You had such a unique way of making everyone you met love you instantly with your kind and outgoing nature.
Bev I will never forget you, you hold a very special place in my heart forever and I know this is true for many of us at Concordia Village. I am so happy we knew you the last years of your life. John, Bev's kids and grandkids and family, our thoughts and love are with you at this very sad time. Rest in peace beautiful Bev, you showed us all how to live a life with love, strength and kindness. XOXO
