CAROL ULRICH

(née Hassman)

September 20, 1943 – January 27, 2026

Carol Ulrich (née Hassman) passed away peacefully on January 27th with the love of her family surrounding her.

Carol was born in Southey, Sk. in 1943 to Emily and John Hassman. She grew up the eldest of 4 girls, enjoying farm life and sports, in particular softball. In 1961 she married Harold Ulrich and they settled on the farm south of Markinch. Her farm life in the community was full of faith, friends, and family. Carol, the avid gardener and fantastic baker, was there to contribute to everything in the community. Attending sporting events to cheer on daughter Patti along with fun times at the lake were favorite pastimes of theirs. As with most prairie folk she also loved watching curling on TV and cheering for the Riders!

Following Harolds passing in 1987 Carol moved to Regina beginning her new chapter working until retirement at SIAST. During this time she enjoyed absolutely nothing more than spending time with her granddaughter Dana sharing her love and tenderness.

In 2021 Carol moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her daughter. Here she enjoyed coffee and cards with friends, many weekends at the lake with Matt and Patti, and regular trips to visit Dana, James, and her favorite pup Henley in Edmonton.

She will be missed by her daughter Patti (Matt); granddaughter Dana (James); and sisters, Joyce (Norman) and Marilyn (Fred); along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol was predeceased by her husband Harold; parents, John and Emily; sister Dianna; and Aunt Hilda.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring in Saskatchewan, as the Markinch and Wheatwyn communities are where her heart lives on.

We are shocked and dismayed to hear Carol died. She lawn bowled with us many years before she moved to Winnipeg. She was an asset to our group and "a friend indeed" when anyone needed her help. We will miss her good cheer and friendly attitude. Ronda & Joe

It saddens me that Carol is gone, her and I worked very closely for many years and became best friends. I missed the times we spent together when she moved away, but we still talked. Rest in peace dear friend, till we meet again.
