THOMAS VERMETTE

February 18, 1989 - September 24, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother Thomas Christopher Vermette (TC) on September 24, 2022. He was 33 years old.

He was admitted to St. Boniface Hospital August 2, 2022 with numerous medical challenges that he fought hard to overcome. Unfortunately they proved too much for him. He passed peacefully with his mum, sister and two best friends Pierre Labossiere and Shauna Dickson at his side.

Thomas was loving, kind, caring, considerate, quick witted and a good friend. He loved his family, friends, pets and Starbucks. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his mum Jan, sister Sheena, his aunts, uncles, cousins, his cats Harry and Luna and his dog Sam.  He is gone too soon but will be in our hearts forever.

He is predeceased by his dad Paul Vermette, his grandparents Erinie and Margaret Vermette, Daniel and Janet Burns.

Thomas has been cremated and a plaque has been ordered in his memory to be placed on his dad’s bench in Churchill Drive Park. An Irish Wake is planned for summer 2023 to celebrate both Paul’s and Thomas’ lives.

I would like to thank the nurses and doctors in the ICMS unit of the St. Boniface Hospital for their care of Thomas and the compassion they showed us. To honour Thomas please consider a donation to St Boniface ICMS or your favourite charity.

I really enjoyed the slideshow, it was cool to see some old photos of Thomas. I met Thomas through work and working alongside him made my days go by faster. We quickly became close friends and in the three years I knew him we probably messaged each other more days than not. Behind all the teasing, was an incredibly kind and thoughtful person who could always make me smile. I am very lucky to have gotten to know him. My deepest condolences to his family.

First met Tom at The Club Lav  bowling, when he was 5 years old  at my knee cap.  Bowling with Paul and the Vermette Gang which was a so much fun.  Even then,  He was special as we got to know each other as he grew.  He worked at TD as a teller and I remember walking in and seeing him and thinking,  there he is. This kid I used to bug and talk to at Hillside Beach. he and I laughed so many times with.  Wish I was there to to be close to you to make a difference. You are with Dad now.    .Love You Tom,  plain and simple.

Thomas worked for me at Starbucks.  A very dedicated employee, whom you could always rely on.  He brought such a positive attitude to our cafe. Thomas was such a kindhearted person and was liked by all. We kept in touch through the years on facebook. I always enjoyed our conversations and watching what he was doing with his life.  He will be missed by many.
