MURRAY BRYNMOR WALTERS

February 5, 1957 - September 15, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Murray Brynmor Walters on September 15, 2022, at the young age of 65. He was born in Kenora, Ontario to Mary and Bryn Walters, being the second of four children. In 1977 Murray met and fell in love with his wife Teresa Zollino and they married on September 7th, 1985. They had two sons, Jonathan and Jordan, who were also born and raised in Kenora.

Murray loved the lake, he loved boating, fishing and enjoyed making many fond memories with family and friends at our family camp on Crow Rock Island, Lake of the Woods. Murray always enjoyed a good party, he made everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Murray was a simple guy. Growing up having a camp on Coney Island, made knowing the lake a priority for him which passed down to his two boys by teaching them how to drive a boat and navigate through Lake of the Woods.

Murray worked many different jobs throughout his life, from driving big riggs across Canada, plowing the roads in the winter months to being a part of the labor’s international union. Murray was a Jack of all trades and always a book of knowledge. When gathering as a family, Murray would always remind his boys to go out and work hard to make a dent in the world. He would continuously say how he never stopped working and learning. He made his contributions by obtaining his AZ licence and drove and owned a tractor trailer for many years, worked on the CP railway, worked on the tar sands fracking wells, worked with OJ and Banister pipelines and helped build many businesses in Kenora such as Weyerhaeuser, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Canadian Tire and Walmart to name a few!

After being on the road most of his life, Murray retired early. He enjoyed retirement and all the joys of being with family had to offer. He was thrilled when his eldest son, Jonathan made him a grandpa. Murray’s face would light up every time his little girl, Isabella, would visit.

Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 37 years, Teresa; sons Jonathan (Casandra) and Jordan; granddaughter Isabella; sisters Susan Pearson and Sandra Ratcliffe; Mother-in-law Maria Zollino, Sister-in-law Josie Totaro, Brother-in-law Franco Zollino (Theresa) and Dino Zollino (Antonella). He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Murray is predeceased by his parents Bryn and Mary Walters, his eldest sister Janice, his father-in-law, Cosmo Zollino, brother-in-laws Darryl Pearson, and Pasquale Totaro.

The family would like to thank the nurses on the 3rd floor at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, especially Charlene Melillo and Marie who worked with him in the ICU.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 8th at The Calvary Pentecostal Church, at 1:00PM.  Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will follow.

Murray's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
