JUDITH LYNNE WARNOCK

(née DUNSTONE)

October 13, 1940 - March 27, 2023

Peacefully, with family by her side, Judy Lynne Warnock passed away at the Victoria General Hospital on March 27, 2023.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Wayne, and her parents Samuel and Beatrice Dunstone.

She will be greatly missed by her children Brad (Jane), Laurie (Mark), Jeff, Wink and Colleen (Harry), grandchildren Eric (Maria), Cara (Andrew), Kelly (Eric), Danny and Alex, great-grandchildren Ryder, Charlie and Oliver, sisters Susan (Tony) and Sally (Wayne), her niece and nephews and many cousins, extended family and friends.

Judy Lynne was one of a kind. She was a caring and empathetic mother, hockey mom, grandmother and friend, who always had time to listen. She loved to cook and entertain, and over the years she and Wayne hosted many dinners, parties and celebrations, filling their home with love, laughter and the smell of garlic. Her door was always open. Throughout her life she maintained a keen interest in history and politics, and encouraged lively debate. In her early years Judy Lynne was passionate about her employment with the Manitoba Committee on Wife Abuse.

Judy Lynne loved to play cards, and belonged to a bridge club in her building until illness and the pandemic forced a stop. The family Apples to Apples tournaments are legendary. Judy Lynne and Wayne spent many wonderful summers at the family cottage at Grand Beach. When she wasn’t there, she was looking forward to being there, watching sunsets at Rocky Beach and spending time with her beach family.

During the course of her long illness, the television and the telephone became her lifelines. She particularly loved movies and Turkish soap operas on Netflix. Talking on the phone with her close friends and family helped to keep her spirits up. We will all miss Judy Lynne’s sense of humour and easy laughter.

Cremation has taken place. At Judy Lynne’s request there will not be a funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Blouw, Dr. Bashir and to the wonderful staff at the Victoria General Hospital 5 South, for their excellent and compassionate care.

Judy’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Aw I just found this!  "Mrs.W" was one of those great characters that makes life fun and interesting and you remember forever.  I only knew her for 3 years as a neighbour on Shepton Bay 1977-1980.  I was grade 5-7, Wink was about 4 years younger.  I think the Jets were still in the WHA.  Mrs. W. was so friendly and sooooo funny!  One thing I remember is her funny poems.  I think I still have a couple, if her kids are interested.

Sorry to hear of Judy's passing.  I knew Judy through Chris as he was a very good friend of my son.  Chris & Don were either at my place or at Warnocks and Judy and I kept in touch to find out what our kids were doing.  She will be missed. ❤

Wink was my closest friend for 20+ years beginning when we were 8. I spent some of the best years of my life surrounded by this family and spent as much time with Judy, Wayne and family as I did my own. I've never met a more loving, family oriented and funny mix of people and I'm forever thankful that they helped form the person I grew up to be. Judy's laughter was infectious and it carried all over whatever room she was in and her and Wayne shared a zest for jokes and laughter that always made them a lot of fun to be around. My thoughts are with the family at this time and my thanks for the years we were able to share

I am so grateful that Judy Lynne and I re-connected after 62 years, we were childhood friends on Garwood. When my family moved away and I moved out to Sandy Hook, we lost touch. It was like we never were apart, we were kindred spirits and “sisters”! ❤, we talked every night. I will miss her voice, her contagious laughter and her amazing spirit. My beautiful, precious  friend I will love you and carry you with me till we meet again . ❤ My heartfelt sympathy and thoughts are with Judy Lynne’s family and loved ones. I know how much she loved each one of you

I remember Judy Lynne trying to teach me how to make perogies and cabbage rolls with Laurie one weekend. Despite the fact that I was less than successful she was very kind and very funny. Both John and I are very sorry for your loss and send our love and hugs.

Judy Lynne was one of my Dunstone cousins.  She always spoke fondly of my mother, Kathleen, telling me stories of her piano playing & called Cheryl & I the curly haired twins.  We loved visiting her at Grand Beach - her laugh was infectious & she seemed to have a passion for crossword puzzles.  Judy Lynne will be greatly missed by her family & friends. Much love 💕

Met Judy Lynne, Wayne and family on Shepton Bay, being neighbours.  Cherished their friendship from late 70's . Condolences to all of Judy's family, and special thanks to Wink for his great support to his Mom.  There was only one Judy Lynne!! She was kind, generous, fun loving, and could keep one laughing from the moment you met with her until departure.  We share lots of memories from Grand Beach  and Winnipeg, too many to mention, but each one has a "Judy story" in it to bring a smile to one's face.  Who can forget her Spaghetti & Ribs meal??   Rest in Peace dear  friend, will miss you until  we can laugh together again. Judy Lynne was my very dear friend for almost 70 years.  We had so many good times that it would be hard to write about them all.  But some of our best times were at Judy and Wayne’s every summer that our group of friends went to Judy’s cottage at Grand Beach.  I will cherish the memories of my dear friend.  Thanks to Wink for being such a wonderful support for Judy for so many years.❤
