Harvey Waterman

HARVEY WATERMAN
July 29, 1935 – March 11, 2026
We sadly announce the passing of Harvey Calvin Kingsley Waterman on March 11, 2026, at the age of 90 years old. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife Shirley of 67 years; daughter Ronaele (Dale) and son Ron (Nadine); 4 grandchildren, Cole, Evan (Samantha), Jena and Derek; and great grandchildren, Morgan Jane and Everly Jane. Harvey is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Eveline Waterman; Aunt Tean; and brother Lloyd (Betty).
Harvey was born on July 29, 1935, at the Souris District Hospital in the RM of Glenwood, Manitoba. He grew up on the farm spending time between Souris and his Aunt Tean and Uncle John Black in Douglas Manitoba. He attended a one room school at the Whitefield Breezelawn district and completed his high school at Souris Collegiate. He then attended a Machinist course at Winnipeg Technical School. Harvey ‘s work career began as an accountant with Canada Packers at Glenboro, Manitoba with transfers to Dauphin, Fort Francis Ontario, and Melita. He moved to Beaver Lumber at Roblin and Dauphin to follow up as the manager at the Benito, Manitoba location. Harvey ventured into city life in Winnipeg in 1962 to work as an Architectural Draftsman with TrueView Window owned by Winnipeg Supply. He was the first person to bring bronze glass to the window industry. It is during this time of his life that he would then truly expand on his natural skill as a top salesman. It did not matter what industry he worked in Harvey was always at the top of the sales leaderboards. Whether it was for short line equipment, farm equipment, mechanic specialty tools or window sales, Harvey always took great care in fostering his relationships with each and every customer. Once he did business with a client, he would never forget them, often recognizing them in a restaurant or other public settings decades after completing his deal. This skill existed until he completed his final sale at the age of 77 years old.
Harvey became a resident of Charleswood in 1972 and soon began to establish himself as an active member of the community. He became known as official skate tyer for Varsity View hockey teams and always the back-up plan for team players if they could not find a ride to the game. His love of dogs was a passion, including having wire-haired dachshunds for decades. Harvey loved being busy as a handyman often tinkering and adjusting various items to fix. Camping was also an enjoyment for him, especially parking his Prowler trailer at Clear Lake for summer getaways. He participated in curling, including being a member of the Winnipeg Winter Club. Golf, fishing, and baseball were also favorites while regularly following the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Shirley and he spent many years square dancing with the Woodhaven Westerners.
Harvey was highly active with Charleswood United Church, especially in his retirement being a member since 1972. He also got to fulfil his lifetime dream of having his own motorhome to venture down the highways and call his second home. It was particularly convenient to be able to visit his grandchildren in the United States. He was a family man, caring husband, and father.
The family would like to thank the staff of Deer Lodge, St Norbert Personal Care Home, and West Park Manor for their care of Harvey for the past few years while he was battling Lewy Body Dementia.
The family also wants to thank Reverand Dr. Michael Wilson for his help, prayers, and kindness.
A big thank you as well to our church family and friends for all your help in many ways. This included baking, flowers, donations, phone calls, visits to Harvey, cards, and notes.
Harvey has lived a full life,
he will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Charleswood United Church – 4820 Roblin Blvd Winnipeg MB, followed by refreshments and snacks. A private internment will occur at a later date.

Condolences to the family on your loss.
I have good memories of Harvey at Robinson Alamo where I worked as a machinery salesman from 1977 to 82. He was easy to get along with and gave me good advice. RIP Harvey.

I remember Harvey interviewing and hiring me in the cafeteria at MIT (now Red River College), as draftsma/estimator for Tru View, Unfortunately I only had that job from July to December 1968 because Tru View was sold to another window company, Harvey was a conscientiously hard worker, a "nose to the grindstone" guy, and a real gentleman to work for.
