PATRICIA LYNN WELLS
February 17, 1953 – December 30, 2019
However you knew her; Trish, Pat, Patti, Patricia, Mom, Grandma, she was the sister to six brothers, Aunty to many, friend to even more, everyone loved her just the same and she unconditionally loved in return. Mom passionately rooted for the underdog; especially when it was her Winnipeg Jets or Blue Bombers. Although, she was more than ecstatic to see the Blue Bombers bring home the cup this year, she was an avid Jets fan. Some of the things she loved so much were coffee with friends and family, herbal remedies, playing cards, watching any movie, good or bad, spying on the world’s comings and goings through the window from her favorite chair. One of the things she loved most was watching her kids and grandbabies grow.
She was never motivated by material possessions, but instead her heart, soul, and showing kindness and empathy with every person she encountered was her richest and greatest gift to those who knew her.
She was silly, naive, gentle, brave, selfless and had the patience of a Saint (especially when cleaning or listening to her loved ones venting about their day, (just ask Kimmy or Jay). Not only was her door always open to anyone who needed a friend, but also to a myriad of stray animals that the kids (April or Dad) tended to bring home. She took them into her home and heart with the same love and compassion that she gave to all those she crossed paths with within her life.
There aren’t words accurate enough to describe her soul, but her very good friend Dawna had this to say about Mom which spoke intimately to our family:
“I am reminded how we are never guaranteed tomorrow.
I am reminded of making that time.
I am reminded you are not that busy.
I am reminded that when our time to go is near we know, and we try to say goodbye to the ones we love.
I am reminded how strong she was.
I am reminded how brave she was.
I am reminded how kind and caring she was.
I am reminded how wonderful of a mother she was.
I am reminded of her loyal friendship.
I am reminded how very much I will miss our visits and our giggles.
I am reminded of what it means to need people in your corner.
I am reminded how truly special she will always be.
I am reminded you set a goal and made it happen.
I am reminded it's ok to let go.
On December 30, 2019 my dear sweet Miss Patricia became another bright star in my sky.
My heart hurts for your family, Steve, April, Jay, Kim and all your beautiful grandchildren.
I miss you so much already.
Rest in peace my beautiful Patricia I will forever honor and love you.”
In 1974 Patti made her way out to Galiano Island in BC to visit her brother Rick and thus met the love of her life Steve, this love grew to include three awesome children, and five beautiful grandbabies who will all miss her fiercely. The rest as they say, is history.
In the time leading up to her leaving us she was able to spend some time with all those she loved with all she had. After 44 years together Mom passed with her soul mate holding her hand just as he promised.
She was scared, but she was brave
She was tired, but she was strong
Until we meet again
