TERRY C. WHYTE

(WHYTEY)

March 7, 1941 – October 24, 2021

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Terry on October 24 at the age of 80 years.

Terry is survived by his two sons, Brandon Whyte (Annie) and Scott Whyte-Franco (Sherry); grandchildren, Samantha and Indiana; as well as his sister Glenda Whyte and her children, Bruce, Lance, Darren, Todd and Sandy.  He was predeceased by his wife Wendy; daughter Tiffany; sister Karen; niece Lauren as well as parents, Otwald and Geraldine.

Terry was born and raised in the beautiful North End of Winnipeg! He moved out to Alberta in the 1970’s where he excelled as a home electronics salesman (Top Salesman of the year for Sansui Stereo 9 years in a row!). At that time he remarried (Wendy) and adopted a beautiful daughter, Tiffany (TJ!). Sadly, losing both way too soon. He then moved back to Manitoba to be closer to his grandchildren, Sammi and Indi. He enjoyed the next 15 years at his home in Gull Lake. Never fully retiring, working for the Brokenhead band office as a Security officer for the last 7 years. Taking those duties seriously and to heart, touching many in that community.

Whytey was an unbelievable son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Truly touching everyone that met him. He was always there for his friends and family.

To say he was a special human being is a massive understatement. He lived life to the fullest, he was a rock star….with legendary stories! His unparalleled positive attitude towards life filled and lifted family and friends. An affect that left everyone who met him feeling blessed and more alive.

With the charisma of ten men (and the volume too!), he was part Don Cherry, Foghorn Leghorn, W.C. Fields and Dale Carnegie (and Richard Petty!); no one told a joke, sold a product, motivated people or spun a yarn like he could. A God of the ol’ “Dog & Pony” show, he could razzle dazzle and schmooze like no one.

He was the life of the party. He commanded the room and engaged people with such ease. He was truly born to it. He will be remembered with pride the way he treated people. He left all of his friends and family with spectacular memories and stories to tell for the next 100 years.

Happiness and Laughter.

He will be missed dearly by so many.

In Accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. There will, however, be a celebration of life (an old fashioned Irish Wake) to be held on November 13, 2021 from 1pm to 4pm at Shannon’s Irish Pub located at 175 Carlton St., Winnipeg, MB.

In lieu of flowers, Whytey would love for you to donate to a charity that’s close to your heart, in his name.

“May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face”

And, one of his faves;

“As you slide down the bannisters of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way”

Slainte!

Whytey and I met in the Electronic industry and become good friends.  We decided to travel together to Fort Mac where we both had the same customer, we would save money on the trip...... "Big Mistake"..... the Bar bill was twice what we saved on gas.   I will miss his great sense of humor. I hope they have some Scotch,  just for a wee dram. RIP my friend!!

I went to Uncle Terry’s wake today in Winnipeg.  He would have loved it. His family and friends all in one room, sharing stories,  and having a drink.  Or more than one…. He loved that more than anything. Brandon and Scott did a great job, despite their immense loss.  They both spoke about their father and met with everyone that were able to make it out, despite a lousy snowy day. Uncle Terry was my father figure. He was there for me, and between my Mother and him, they helped guide me to lead a life that I never would have thought possible.   My Mom took great care of me and made sure I knew the value of going to school.  And Uncle Terry made sure that I set goals for myself.  Not too high that would be impossible to meet, but not too low that anyone could meet!  I always will remember that about him.  And they both drive me to try and achieve a better life. So thank you Whytey.  You will be missed by everyone. Your nephew, Lance Vigfusson

I’ve very saddened to hear of the sudden death of my long time good friend and buddy Terry Whyte,  Terry was an up positive guy who believed in living life to the fullest. He was a hard working caring person who felt extremely high of his family and friends.  His two boys, Brandon and Scott along with his sister Glenda and her children were his world.   When you are a friend of Whyte, you were a friend for life.  The stories are way to many, whether it was party central or the crazy fishing trips during the late 1960’s and the 1970’s. It was always let the good times roll or as Whyte would say.  “ it’s first things first” which usually meant let’s open a couple of jars and figure it out from here.   Although we haven’t seen each other very much in last 20 years, due to living in different provinces, we always talked on our birthdays and caught up on the latest of our lives.   He was a caring person and a great friend who we’re sure as hell going to miss. With deepest sympathy Tom Jestadt
