SIDNEY GORDON WICKS

An Extended Obituary
and Celebration of Life
Details are forthcoming.
Please check back soon.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sidney Gordon “Gord” Wicks on May 21, 2026. Gord was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected businessman whose integrity and kindness left a lasting mark on everyone he met. As many would say, “You could always count on Gord.” He took great pride in building his small business, one that provided meaningful work for friends and family over many years.
Gord approached life with enthusiasm and purpose. He was an avid car enthusiast, a sharp and thoughtful presence in the business community, and happiest when spending time at the lake with his wife and family. His legacy of hard work, loyalty, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara. Gord was a proud father to Terry (Andrew), Don (Stephanie), and Wendy (Vance). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren—David, Cody, and Kalli—who brought immense joy to his life.
Education was important to Gord, reflected in his achievement of three university degrees. He was a proud member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, the Blossom Boys, and "the Lads", groups that enriched his life with lifelong friendships and camaraderie.
Gord’s presence, wisdom, and steady support will be profoundly missed, and his memory will be cherished forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held in early fall, with details to come.
In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to Heart and Stroke, or a charity of your choice.

Gord Wicks was one of a kind. We will miss our lake neighbour terribly. Gordy was always ready to share a story, an opinion, a happy hour or a dinner. And he was a super neighbour. When we were just building our lake place, he and Barb were super generous, sharing their electricity via an extension cord from their place so we could run our fridge and a lamp and have some tunes! He loved it when we named a giant iguana in Mexico "El Gordo" after him, and he laughed a tonne when we told him that meant "the fat one." Over the years we shared many visits to BBQ Bob's or made our own fun and food with him and Barb. Gordy loved my margaritas and always complimented my food - he was savvy as all get out! It's so, so hard to believe he's gone, I guess the memories will just have to do us. Farewell our wonderful friend. Mar & Ger
