Deanne Wiens
DEANNE RUBY WIENS
(née EYOLFSON)
July 30, 1940 – October 8, 2024
Peacefully after a brief illness, it is with sadness that we announce the death of Deanne Ruby (née Eyolfson) Wiens on October 8, 2024 in her 84th year.
Deanne (Dee) is survived by her children, Brad (Favel) and Ryan (Michelle); grandchildren, Harlan, Haley, Carter, Brittany, and Carly; nephew Warren (Alana) Eyolfson; and grand-nephews, Justin (Kelsey) and Cody (Kaylee). She is predeceased by her husband Al; parents, Herbert and Jonina; brother Kenneth Eyolfson; and nephew Gordon.
Born in Teulon, MB on July 30, 1940 she was raised in the Vestfold area of the Interlake, where she enjoyed horseback riding (her pride and joy was her horse “Minnie”). Her carpenter father even built a stable at the one-room schoolhouse she attended as a child to keep her horse in! Most of the animals on their small farm ended up with names and lived to a ripe old age, perhaps leading to Dee’s enduring affection for horses, cats, birds, and all wildlife (she even had a pair of ducks who returned every year for the last 5 years to a little duck “pond” in her side yard to bathe and eat).
Dee moved to the city at 17, took a comptometer course and worked in that field until she met and married Al Wiens in 1962, the love of her life until he passed away in 2007. They took their boys on many downhill ski trips through the years all over the Rockies. She was a dedicated mother and Amma to her children, grandchildren, nephews and grand-nephews, and will be sorely missed by all.
Dee was a wonderful wife, mother, friend and human being. She is very much missed by everyone lucky enough to have known her.
The family wishes to thank Dee’s friends and neighbors Liz and Fred Williams, John and Edna Bazarkewich, and Craig and Nancy Boan for their help and support.
Our mom will be forever in our hearts.
Donations can be made to CancerCare in memory of Deanne and Al Wiens.
Deanne’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

To Brad and Ryan, my sincere condolences on your mother's passing. I am sure you and your families will miss her. I really enjoyed looking at your photo story. Many of these pictures I have never seen before. They bring back so many memories of my times spent with Deanne on the two Eyolfson farms. I loved my stays there during my teen years, helping on the farms during haying season.

Dear Brad and Ryan, I remember your mother with enormous fondness. Whenever you came to visit us on Ellice, it was always a happy time. Everyone in your family -- Herb, Nina, your dad and your mom -- I loved them all dearly! I'll never forget you all!

I was sorry to learn of Deanne's passing. She was a wonderful cousin, and I have fond memories of visits to Uncle Herb's farm when she let me ride her horse. I was honoured to be her bridesmaid, and enjoyed visiting with her over the years. She has left behind a lovely family who will miss her very much.

Dear Ryan and Brad, i think the last time I saw Deanne was ar your Amma's funeral. Auntie Ninna and my Dad Franklin were sister and brother. In the wedding picture, I am the bridesmaid in the middle. Deanne was a truly kind and gentle person. a joy to remember for your family.
