DAVID (DAVE) WIKLUND
October 6, 1957 – October 21, 2025
It is with immense heartbreak that we announce the passing of our dad, David (Dave) Wiklund on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the age of 68.
He is survived by his wife Susan; son Kyle (Kendra); daughter Kelli (Curtis); granddaughters, Juni and Arla; sister Laurie; brother in law Ken (Jan); nephews, Eric, Jamie (Carolyn), and Scott(Andrea); his aunt Marj; and many loved-like-family friends from all across Canada.
Dave was outgoing, easy to talk to, always making jokes; he loved making people laugh. He was passionate about learning new skills; always working on new DIY projects, helping friends and family with anything on their “list”, spending time at our cottage at lake of the woods, his motorcycle and annual motorcycle trips with wonderful friends, music, annual snow bird trips to Mexico and “frolicking” with great friends that gather there year after year. And most of all, his family; dad was always very proud of all of our accomplishments and milestones and especially of his granddaughters; always excited to spend time with them. He loved those girls to bits. We all miss him so deeply.
We’d like to thank everyone in HSC MICU for your care and compassion on Tuesday.
A private celebration of life will be planned for a later date.

My deepest sympathy to you Sue and your family the passing of Dave. The profound loss and emptiness in your hearts is shared by all who knew him. He was a welcoming soul and his ability to create laughter made it a joy to be with him.
I will forever appreciate the support and friendship he gave to Barry. Theirs was a connection of Fort Garry boys forged later in life but it was one that was very important to Barry. He always got a chuckle from Dave's views at morning coffee and respected when Grandpa Dave was needed for his cherished grandkids and couldn't make it to solve world issues.
I wish all of you peace, love and comfort at this difficult time and to also hold all your wonderful memories of him close to your hearts.

So very sad to hear of Dave's passing. Sue - my sincerest condolences to you and the family for your devastating loss.
Dave was one of those people that if you're lucky enough... you get to meet and know in life. With his larger than life personality... always laughing and joking... you couldn't help but laugh along with him. Knowing him from childhood days growing up in Fort Garry, playing shinny at Westridge CC and then later on playing old timers with him... as well as at times spent at the lake.... has accumulated a lot of great memories!! Dave was one of the good ones and he'll be sorely missed by all.
Gone far too early in life .... rest in my friend!!
Gord

My condolences to you, Susan, and your family.
Its a very sad day to hear that a son, husband, a father, a grandpa, and a great friend to many...has suddenly passed. I met Sue and Dave in Puerta Adventuras a few years back and have kept in touch through the years. Dave had such a big heart and was always on the beach, hitting the patios to enjoy music and laughter with many friends. His generosity with driving the ladies to buy handmade glassware...I will cherish them even more now! Farewell to an amazing and well loved person!

Dear Susan and Family- It is with shock and disbelief that we extend our sincere condolences to all of you. Dave was a larger than life figure, who was a good friend for a very long time. He had an ability to find humour where no one else could. Under his sometimes gruff persona, really was a person with a heart of gold. He always was willing to lend a hand. We were fortunate enough to have had many great times with you , and it is those memories we will remember forever. Gone way to soon. RIP our friend
.

We will always remember Dave's love of life, family and friends, he was always quick with a joke and a good laugh.
We have and will cherish so many memories with Susan and Dave,

I was shocked and saddened to here the passing of Dave. My condolences go out to Sue and the boys. Dave and I spent countless hours at Westrige Community Club growing up and played hockey with him for 25 years. For our age group, Dave was one of the best goalies in the province, bar none. He would always greet me with a joke and a smile and was a blast to be around. I miss the Saturday night house parties where the "Happy Gang" would get together and watch Hockey Night In Canada and then tune in to watch Dave and Doug Mckenzie. Peace be with you and you will be remembered by many.

As Dave's aunt, I met him when he was only a few days old. He was an awesome little kid. At the tender age of 5 he demonstrated his generosity and love of fine things-opening every bag of candy on the bottom shelf at Safeway to share with his friend Mary. It was my privilege to to watch Dave grow and mature into a fine man- fall in love and marry Susan- raise two children and lavish his love on his adored granddaughters . He lived for family and friends.
Dave lived life large! The world will be a
quiet place without his laughter. He will be greatly missed.

We had the pleasure of being neighbours with Dave, Susan, Kyle and Kelli when we built in 2004. It was a very sad day for us when you sold your house on Setterington Bay. We will never forgot all the great memories and laughs we had over all those years. From the street parties, to all the chats on the driveways, the beers you and Glenn shared and the hospitality you showed us when we visited you and Susan at your beautiful cabin at Rush Bay. Dave, you were the best neighbour always willing to help out and always with a smile and an infectious laugh. I personally will always remember you driving off on your motorcycle down the street in all your glory. Keep riding Dave - you will always be in our hearts. And to Susan, Kyle, Kelli and family - we are so very sorry for your loss. Love the Andersens

There are no words to express how saddened we are to hear of Dave's passing. We first met Dave in Puerto Aventuras and quickly realized he was a great guy. Many highlights over these years. Nauti Burro happy hours, beach days, frolicking and lots of banter. I am sure the Jets would have won the cup by now if only they would have consulted us for advice! We looked forward to seeing Dave each year. He will be forever missed. Condolences to Sue and family. Sincerely, Jeff and Kathy

Generous and outgoing, Dave and Susan welcomed friends to their homes in Winnipeg and Rush Bay and for visits in Mexico. We were recipients of his time and skills with our own cottage projects. Dave always had the idea and tools to get the job done, never hesitating when asked a question, often taking on the task himself. Followed, of course, by an adult frosty beverage. His good natured teasing and laughter which often brought tears to his eyes will be missed more than words can express. Sending our love and condolences to the Wiklund and Abbott families.

It’s very hard to put into words what a friend Dave was to me. We always helped each other out at the lake, laughing our way through whatever job we were tackling. You entertained us with your hilarious sense of humour but you also had a genuine caring side that we cherish. Susan, Kelli, Curt, Juni, Arla, Kyle and Kendra, we know how proud he was of you all. What a huge void that now exists. Rush Bay will never be the same without our good friend Dave.
Miss you buddy,
Love from Grant and Krista Arklie

Deepest condolences Sue and family. Our hearts are broken over the loss of Dave. Meeting on the beach in Puerto Aventuras we became instant friends. Rivalries between the Blue Bombers and the Roughriders ,Jets and Oilers and the buckets won and lost all settled once back in PA. Always the organizer of happy hours and get togethers and trips to other beaches. Superbowl parties always the ultimate host. "Frolicking " will never be the same. Darkest tan on the beach. Watching relationships with daughter and granddaughters was special. They adored him. Loved our visit to your cabin. Dave will be deeply missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely Mark and Jacky Casey.

From our many trips with Sue and Dave to Vegas, Phoenix and Minneapolis (some to see the Wpg Jets play), our yearly invite to their cottage, our annual winter trips to Puerto Aventuras for many years, and most recently our trip of a lifetime all through Europe. How can anyone describe Dave, there are words that cant do justice it's the times spent getting to know a person and getting to know Dave was time well spent. I'll always see his smile and hear his laugh, he always had a good joke and could make the day a little better. He loved his family and cherished each moment with them. I'm so glad to have made the trip to the lake house this last September and enjoyed our time together a time now that I'll cherish forever.
