ROBERT PETER WILLEMSEN

October 26, 1957 – July 5, 2022

Robert Peter Willemsen, better known as Bob, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, and will be greatly missed.

Bob was born on October 26, 1957, in Queensborough, Ontario and spent his childhood growing up in the small town of Madoc. He was athletic and played everything from hockey to baseball and football. He moved to Alberta in his mid-teens to start an illustrious career in construction and project management. He met his wife, Susan, and with her son Ryan, they built a life together having 3 more children, moving to a few different cities and finally ending up in Winnipeg in an amazing cul de sac. Bob was very involved in his community, serving terms on the board at Greendell Community Centre and coaching hockey or soccer teams depending on which child was playing. Later in life, Bob realized his love for golf and played as many rounds as he was able to with his friends. He was on the quiet side, but that didn’t stop him from having an amazing sense of humour, whether it was appropriate or not.

Bob is survived by his wife Susan and their children Megan (Jared), Stephanie, and Robert Jr. (Kaitlyn), predeceased by his stepson Ryan who is survived by his wife Nikki and grandsons Maxwell and Merrick, his mother Joyce Willemsen (predeceased by his father Anthony Willemsen) and his brother and sisters and beloved dog Roxy.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the staff and team of medical professionals in the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for taking the best care of Bob during his stay.

There will be a casual service held at the St. Vital Cemetery on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm for those who wish to attend.
