DAVID HAROLD WILLIAMS

December 16, 1961 - September 19, 2019

After a courageous battle with cancer, Dave passed away on September 19, 2019 at the age of 57 years.

He will be forever loved and missed by his wife Lisa; sons Jeff and Doug; brothers Gordon (Thelma) and Harvey (Rolly); sister Donna (Rodney); mother-in-law Sylvia Eagleton; brothers-in-law Don (Kelly) and David (Rachel); sisters-in-law Lori (Rob) and Linda (Rollie); numerous nephews, nieces and cousins, as well as his furry companions Teemu and Autumn. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Betty Williams.

Dave, aka Tiger, grew up in Austin, Manitoba, a place that remained near and dear to his heart. It continued to be the site of many gatherings with family and friends, full of fun and laughter. He later moved to Portage la Prairie and then settled in Winnipeg. Dave worked for the Winnipeg School Division for over 25 years dealing with at-risk youth. He loved his job and took pride in being able to help others and make a difference in their lives. He also owned a satellite business for many years which took him all over Manitoba. He very much enjoyed meeting and talking to people and, as a result, made many new friends.

Dave loved the outdoors and spent many enjoyable hours camping, hiking, gardening, golfing and hanging out with family at the lake. He also loved to travel. There were numerous road trips across Canada and the States, first with Lisa and later including the boys. He enjoyed vacations to Florida and more recently Cuba and Mexico. From a young age, Dave had a passion for music, particularly rock. He always had tunes playing and attended dozens of concerts over the years. Dave was extremely passionate about sports. He grew up playing many different types, continuing to play baseball well into his adult years. He was always very involved with his sons’ athletic pursuits, spending countless hours as both spectator and coach. Dave’s ‘man cave’ was the envy of many.

We wish to thank our family, friends, neighbours and co-workers for their incredible love and support throughout this difficult time. It meant the world to us all. We also want to thank the staff at Grace Hospice for their care and compassion during Dave’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Grace Hospice, care of the Grace Hospice Foundation.

A celebration of Dave’s life was held at 1:00 pm on October 5, 2019 at Canad Inns Destination Center Fort Garry located at 1824 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
