SHIRLEY ANNE WILLIAMS
(née Gallinger)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Williams, surrounded by her family, at Riverview Health Centre on March 2, 2025, at the age of 87.
She will be dearly missed by her three children, Brad Williams (Jasmine Huang), Diane Williams (Patrick Harrison), and Jacqueline Schultz (Richard Schultz); and grandchildren, Peter, David, Lucas, Kaitlyn, Hailey, Bennett, Baergen, Haleigh and Graham. She is survived by her sister, Bettie Armstrong; and extended family members and friends.
Shirley was a devoted wife to her late husband, Michael (deceased 2019), and together they built a life rich in family, travel, love and laughter. Their deep commitment to one another, as well as to their children and grandchildren created countless cherished memories during family road trips, vacations and celebrations throughout the years.
Shirley had many part-time jobs over the years, but she really found her calling as a volunteer, generously dedicating her time and energy to many organizations, including The Children’s Festival, The HSC Gift Shop, The St. Boniface Hospital Gift Shop and St. John’s Anglican Church, to name a few.
Despite facing challenging health issues over the years, Shirley maintained a positive and cheerful attitude! In 2020 she moved to Riverview Health Centre where she embraced her new life, forming friendships and enthusiastically participating in all of the social opportunities offered. She taught us the profound impact of positivity and grace. While she will certainly be missed, we carry with us deep love, joy and admiration for the kindness and love that she shared with everyone.
The family would like to express a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the staff at Riverview Health Centre, for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Shirley and her family over the past 5 years.
In accordance with Shirley’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private family Celebration of Life and internment will take place in the summer.
Flowers are gratefully declined in favour of donations to Riverview Health Centre or a charity of your choice.
Shirley’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My brother Tom and I were truly saddened to hear that our wonderful Auntie Shirley has gone home to be with the Lord. She was a real gem and a real joy to be around. She had a cheerful heart, which shone in her kindness, thoughtfulness and good humour whenever we got to be with her and Uncle Mike. They were such a great couple. I'm sure my dad Ken was thrilled to see her when she came home to Heaven. He adored his little sister, and they always had a good time joking around together. I will never forget the big effort that she and Uncle Mike made to come to my parents' 50th anniversary here in Ontario. That was such a great visit, and it shows just how giving she was. Diane, Brad and Jacquie - all our love and sympathy goes out to you. It really hurts to lose a dear mom, but you can know that others saw how special she was, and treasure having had the joy of knowing her. Love, Tom and Diane xxxooo.

S;hirley was a true sister. We have so many fond memories of the camping trips we took together--Riding Mountain Park, Cedar Point in Ohio and most memorable the last one to the East Coast. Shirley was always so cheerful no matter the circumstances.
Brad, Diane and Jacquie, know we have been thinking of you and we hope all your memories will help you through this time..
Your mom was very special.

Our wonderful sister-in-law Shirl was always fun to be around. Mary's brother Mike worshipped her, and took good care of her. Their family was very close and their three children grew to be productive and caring adults. We will remember Shirl with much love.
