BERNARD "BERNIE" WAYNE WILSON
November 17, 1940 – May 12, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce that Bernie passed away on May 12, 2025 in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 84.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Judy Loxton; sister Gayle (Jake) from BC; son Guy (daughter Leah) from ON; son Scott (DeeDee); grandchildren William; Caitlyn; Samantha (Jay); great grandchild Harvey from ON.
Predeceased by his parents Helen & Matt Wilson; his 41-yr old pet bird “Mr. Magoo”. His 2-yr old pet dog “Teddy” is truly missing cuddling with him.
Bernie spent a portion of his younger years working on tugboats every summer out of Harrison Hot Springs, BC. He also was a mechanic at Kimberly-Clark of Canada Ltd in Winnipeg, MB for many years. He then went into Real Estate (as a seller, manager & broker) for various companies before his retirement.
Bernie had many friends with whom he liked to socialize with and was the life of many parties. In his earlier years, he liked to build go-carts and race them in the US. He also enjoyed going to the US with his friends watching car racing and football. He spent many years boating at Lake of The Woods, ON and cottaging at Spruce Bay Heights, MB.
Bernie was my life’s existence and I will miss him immensely; for we did everything together. Bernie used to tease me that I constantly led when we danced. Now I am leading him to Heaven’s Gates.
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
Of happy memories
that I leave when life is done.
In Accordance with Bernie’s wishes, cremation/ burial will take place and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare.
Bernie’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I just heard the news Judy and sending hugs & condolences to you and family. Always loved his laugh & sense of humor. I'll always remember him stopping by the Spruce Sands cottage to do some "make shift" tattoos. Rest in peace Bernie.

So sorry to see you go my friend. No one else would have a quacking mallard as an alarm clock, or bare all bending over in thong underwear. We will miss the Weekend's at Bernies, the games, MNF and the Roams to the Dome. Rest Well.

We are so sorry for your loss Judy! We have such fond memories of our fun with you both at the lake playing cards, listening to Roy Orbison and especially playing bocci ball! Bernie had such a great sense of humor and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts are with you and Teddy (I am sure he is missing Bernie too).

Our deepest condolences to you Judy on the loss of Bernie. Bernie was a kind and funny guy, who always made us feel at home and welcomed. We truly enjoyed getting to know you both at the cottage, and have so many fond memories of Bernie "shaking the gifts" at Christmas in July. He will be truly missed. Big virtual hugs to you and Teddy - until we can hug you in person! XOX The Carnegie's (Ian, Nicole, Meagan and Callum)

We'll never be able to hear 'Wasted Days and Wasted Nights' without thinking of Bernie. We will treasure the memories of times spent at the cottage, cards and bocce tournaments, of fun times at New Years and Grey Cup parties. Rest well , dear friend.

So very sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. I met Bernie in 1958 at the Winnipeg Roller Rink and for several years we frequented the same places within the same group of friends. We skated, we played pool at Casey's, we ate pizza at Zorro's.
For many years, we kind of lost touch with each other but every once in a while I would run into him on the street in Gimli or in Tuxedo or with Judy at the fall supper in Arnes. One time I ran into Bernie after we had just moved into the Tuxedo area and he invited me and my wife to his New Years Eve party. What a guy!
We emailed each other occasionally and I will miss that.
Our condolences Judy and family.

Dave and I will miss Bernie very much. We have been neighbours for over 25 years. We will always remember the Christmas Eves we spent at your house. Bernie loved to see the kids and give them fun gifts. We were very lucky to have him as a neighbour.

Judy, We are so very sorry for your loss. Bernie was a wonderful and cheerful person. It was always a pleasure to spend a few hours in his company chatting and having a drink with him. We will miss his wit, lighthearted personality and his dedication to our cottage association.
