KELLY JANE KRISTIN SMITH WILTSHIRE

June 25, 1980 – August 26, 2023

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Kelly Jane Kristin Smith Wiltshire. A pillar of strength, love, and laughter in the lives of those who knew her, Kelly’s legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and an indomitable spirit.

Kelly will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her husband Dave, children Davis and Talise, parents Don and Joan Smith, brother Donnie (Tara), sister Amber (Tim), mother and father in-law Arnott and Marlene Wiltshire, sister in law Dale (Dennis), nieces and nephews Zoe, Tyler, Seth, Colson, Gracie & Kendra. As well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents Bob & Maisie Smith and Bruno & Maria Nowicki.

Kelly was born on June 25, 1980 in Winnipeg. She grew up in the North End attending Lord Nelson Elementary School, Andrew Mynarski Junior High and Sisler High School. Upon graduation, Kelly attended Red River Community College completing the Health Unit Clerk Program. Shortly after graduation Kelly began working in the Healthcare Field. She worked in the Children’s Clinic and the Dialysis Unit at HSC. Kelly took great pride in her field of work and stood firm in her beliefs and channeled her positive energy to those who couldn’t speak for themselves. She lent her voice for the sick and most vulnerable.

Kelly’s love for Dave, Davis and Talise was matchless. Dave was truly the love of her life and her children the centre of her universe. Kelly treasured Davis and Talise and embraced every moment with them. She dedicated herself to volunteering at Davis and Talise’s school and all of Davis’ sports teams. Kelly was their biggest fan and most fierce protector. Kelly took nothing for granted and treasured each and every milestone as if it was the most important. This is evident by the 1000s of pictures found on her phone.

One of Kelly’s favorite things to do was spend time with family. She made it a priority. Whether it was a weekend at the cabin, a family dinner, a hockey or baseball game, a quick family trip or extended vacation there was nothing she cherished more. Kelly loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She was everyone’s favorite auntie and the bond she shared with all of them was rare and unique. She had their best interests in mind and was their confidante.

Kelly doesn’t want anyone to think, say or believe she lost her battle because if truth be told she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always brave, courageous and determined. When anyone else would have broken, Kelly stayed strong. Because of Kelly we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like.

Our family would like to thank the healthcare team at Cancer Care Manitoba: Oncologist Dr. V. Gordon and Radiologist Dr. A. Cooke. Also Dr. T. Fatoye and Maribeth, his nurse, who both provided Kelly with excellent and compassionate care. Kelly admired and appreciated Dr. Fatoye’s integrity, dependability and how he treated her with dignity. As well, Kelly spoke fondly of all the treatment room nurses especially her favourites Shirley, Shannon and Jennifer. Lastly, special thanks to Dr. Pannu of Southtown Medical Clinic.

Let us remember Kelly not with tears of parting, but with the smiles she brought to our lives, the love she showered upon all of us, and her unforgettable laugh that will forever echo in our hearts.

Kelly believed that it’s not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters. Kelly’s final days were spent in her home surrounded by love from her family.  Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Kelly’s wishes, a private Celebration of Life has been planned for Monday, September 18th.

We will forever miss our brave warrior. But we know she’s looking down upon us and whispering “every little thing gonna be alright.”

No words could possible express the hole that is left to be filled after you left Kelly. I never got the opportunity to know you for long, but the light you had when you were around and your energy was absolutely nothing short of amazing! One of the greatest things to imagine is that parts of you get to live on in your beautiful kids and I can only hope they have the fire in them that you had! No matter how tough things would get you were one of the toughest most amazing people I have ever met! I was blessed to have met you and been able to consider you a friend! I will miss your face always! Much love to  your family and friends during this incredibly devastating time.
