Kayla was a strong, selfless and independent woman. She worked very hard for the things that mattered to her and didn’t stop until she got it done. There was never a day she wasn’t trying to help someone in need and there never was a day she wasn’t doing something for her son. Kayla Darlene Wood will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

My former student Kayla, remembering you when you and Nick told me you were gonna be parents. You brought your baby to school and we laughed and joked and held the baby, such joy. Now you are in heaven, I will miss you Kayla. Nick is going to bring your son up. Time doesn't mean anything in heaven so I'm told. Nick and your son, time will mean forever. When you all meet it will be like there was no time between you three. so I am told. You are a wonderful person. I heard you and Nick watched Jim Breuer and laughed and talked about me in your last days. Miikwech for that, you will forever be in our hearts. Love Ms. Nummelin

I lived with you in the group home and we had our differences due to our trauma BUT I always felt you were going to make it far in life… 8 months later and I’m finally learning about your death now. Damn, whatever took you - I wish it didn't because your life literally just started.
