RONALD EARL WOOD

July 25, 1955 – October 15, 2025

Ron passed away October 15, 2025, peacefully with family at his side in the ICU at St. Boniface Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 70 years old.

Ron worked many years as a machinery operator mostly landscaping, sidewalks, asphalt paving, and snow clearing. He was an expert with the bobcat, and helped construct the Brunkhild Bunker during the 1997 flood of the century. Many homes in new areas of Winnipeg were graded by him, and he was very proud of his work.

When he was 18, he and a friend went on an adventure driving to the Yukon. It didn't go very well so they drove to Calgary where he lived for a few years before returning to Winnipeg. He also travelled to Mexico with Kathryn, Marcel, and Joe. He talked often about tubing, snorkelling, feeding baby sharks while at Xel-Ha. He has been skiing in Montana and also travelled to Las Vegas and most of the northern States.

He had a great love of cars (antique especially), trucks, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. He also loved his music (all genres). He taught himself to play the guitar and had a large collection of LP's.

Ron always looked forward to Christmas dinner and especially the annual shuffle-bowl tournament. He has a three-peat on the trophy that he bragged about!

He was pre-deceased by his dad Earl; mom Marcelle; and brother Dave. He is survived by his stepmother Pat; sisters, Lynn (Cam), Denise, Jennifer (Dean); brother Eric (Krista); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

A big thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for him in the ICU, and his doctor "Dr. Doris" for caring for him all these years.

At his request there will not be a funeral.

His neighbours were concerned about Ron, and all said "He was such a nice guy".

Rest In Peace, Ron
