ALLAN HENRY WUTKE

October 24, 1943 – October 23, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, grandpa, uncle, brother and friend to many, Allan Henry Wutke, at the age of 79 on October 23, 2023 (one day shy of his 80th birthday) with his daughter by his side in Palliative Care, St. Boniface Hospital.

Allan is survived by his daughter Sandy (son in law Justin), son Kevin, Brittney, Kelsey and Kierra his grandchildren; Brothers Gordon (Lucy), Vernon (Debra).  He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Emilia, Sister Marlene (Frank) and son Craig.

Allan had esophageal cancer and kidney disease which required him to have dialysis treatment three times a week over the last four years.  He wasn’t a fan of having to go to the hospital and lay down for four hours each time.

He was born in Winnipeg and he lived in Plumas on the farm growing up.  Throughout his life Allan worked in the mines in Thompson, drove trucks for Arnold Brothers and became a mechanic where he worked at Coca-Cola for 25 years followed by Eastern Sales Dealership for over 15 years and didn’t retire till he was over 70.

He loved spending time hunting and fishing whenever he had spare time, working on cars in his garage at home, chatting on the phone and spending time with his family and absolutely adored his granddaughters. His twin boys gave him a run for his money and always kept him on his toes.  His daughter was there for him whenever he needed anything and he was pretty proud of her.

Allan will always be remembered for his heart of gold, kindness, loving personality and gentle soul.  He always said thank you no matter what someone did for him. He never forgot a birthday or birthday card for his kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and family even though he was a bachelor for most of his life.  He was very organized and always had to have everything straight, tidy and in order no matter what it was.  He never threw anything out either and put anything that was no longer working back in the same box he bought it in no matter how old it was.

A big thank you to all the nurses and doctors at Palliative Care Unit in St. Boniface Hospital that showed so much compassion and care during his two months he spent there.  Also thank you to the man who came to Palliative Care and played the guitar and sang to him every Monday and had lots of conversations with him.  Also thank you to Brenda his niece and god daughter who spent many hours by his side and was there minutes after he passed.

Allan’s final resting place will be in Plumas as he will join his son and his parents and a private Celebration of Life will take place.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Canadian Cancer Society or Kidney Foundation of Canada.

My mind knows you are in a better place,

where there is no pain.

You are at peace.

I understand that,

I just wish I could

explain that to my

Heart.

I will miss you forever dad!

Love you.

So sorry for your loss. Your "papa" waved to me and my pooch every single day as we proceeded on our walk.  What a special soul. He will be missed.

Hunting with Allen in the Big Grass Marsh, I can still hear his criticism, of a very poor Canada Goose call, made by another hunter. Norman Walker

Growing up, I enjoyed spending summer holidays with my cousins in Plumas and Giroux as I was raised in Winnipeg and did not have any siblings. Allan and a few other cousins became the brother or sister I did not have. Rest in peace and save a seat for me up there.
