Lily Yamamoto

CHIEKO LILY YAMAMOTO
December 20, 1934 - January 8, 2026
Peacefully on January 8, 2026, Chieko (Lily) Yamamoto (née Watanabe) passed away after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Kanao; daughter Kelly Macdonald (Bruce); grandchildren, Miya and Cameron; and daughter Karen (Derrick Stamm).
She was predeceased by her parents, Naochi and Kiyoko Watanabe; siblings, Donna Yamamoto; Jerry, Arthur, and Henry Watanabe; and grandson Bryce Picklyk.
Lily was born in BC and along with her family, was relocated as a child to Manitoba.
She excelled in school and sports, and went on to become a Registered Nurse at the Misericordia Hospital.
She loved to cook, sew, read, play cards, and hang out with her grandkids.
Her smile and laughter, and love of gossip and cashews will be sorely missed.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private ceremony will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Dr. Obara, the staff at the Canoe Club, and the staff at Deer Lodge Centre and Concordia Hospital for all of their love and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Cancer Care Manitoba.
RIP
Momma/Bachan

To Kelly and Family,
I am sorry for your loss. What a lovely photo tribute (my fave is of her smoking with Miya cracking up). She seems like a beautiful fun-loving soul who was admired and loved by so many. Your memories of her will keep her spirit alive. Hugs to you.
Jen

Whenever I think of your mom I think about the full cookie jar in your kitchen and all the conversations we had at the kitchen table.
She was beautiful in every way.
