LAURA (BERTHA) ZACHARIAS

In the early morning hours of January 30, 2022, with her family by her side, Laura (Bertha) Zacharias passed away peacefully, into the loving arms of Jesus.

Laura was born September 7, 1943 in Morden, MB.

She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 61 years, Jack Zacharias; children, Trent (Milina), Craig (deceased), and Michele (Hugh); grandchildren, Robert, Steven, Ashley, Amber, Riley, Vanessa, Danica, and Desmond; great grandchildren, twelve in total, Daniel, Zane, Delilah, Henry, and Zara, just to name a few; as well as many, many dear friends.

Laura was predeceased by her parents Pearl & Otto Kube, Larry Kube Jr. and her son Craig Zacharias.

Laura lived a life of hard work and devotion to her faith and others, especially her family. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandma/blammy/grams, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world, they would bring a smile to her face and her heart and put that twinkle into her beautiful eyes.

We will all miss you every single day and hope and pray that we too can be as special as you.

Love you Always and Forever

A small restricted service for family will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 @ 10am at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. A live stream of the service will be provided by the church. All may attend the closing at Transcona Cemetery @ approximately 11:15am.

THE DAY GOD CALLED YOU HOME

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, ‘Peace be Thine’.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home

To Jack, Trent and Michele:  It broke our hearts when we heard of the loss of your beautiful wife and mother.  Laura was a very special friend to us, and when we moved to Calgary, we dearly missed her wonderful smile, her presence and her strong faith that she willingly shared.  We treasure wonderful memories of being at your home and enjoying the meals both of you lovingly prepared.  We treasure the many Sunday mornings of coffee after church service, chatting and sharing stories so amicably.  Laura patiently made beautiful quilts for her family, and she generously gave of her time to the church in many ways, including making quilts for charity.  We treasure our summer visits with both of you.  Laura will always have a special place in our hearts.  Be comforted in knowing that Laura is now free from pain, safe in the arms of Jesus and a beautiful angel in heaven.

Dear Jack, Michelle and family.  I am so sorry to learn of Laura’s passing.  She was indeed a beautiful human being.  We met as neighbours at Canyon Lake and became friends over the years.  Although we didn’t get opportunities to see each other very often we kept in touch through the cards we’d send each other for birthdays and Christmas.  She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to talk about them.  I am pleased to hear she had a peaceful passing.  She deserved only good things in life, for that is how she was with others.  I know your hearts are aching and I offer you my deepest sympathies.  The treasured memories of her and the many lessons she has taught you all will be her legacy.  She was a beautiful person inside and out.  ❤

Dear Jack and family,       My wife Karen and I were deeply saddened and cried when we heard that Laura had passed away. Laura meant so much to us as did you and your family. Laura was a true Christian whose love for her church and God could never be put in to words to justify her faith and belief in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved serving her Lord by the work she did in the church. She loved music. Her support for Karen and I will never be forgotten. She was my little angel and always told me how much my music meant to her. I will never forget her beautiful smile and her sincere gratitude for the ministry of music. I remember seeing tears come from her eyes as she listened to a mass choir singing the music called "Only God". She told Karen and I that this was her most loved song. She also had a very special love for Rev. Edward Koehler and we had spent time talking about his ministry at Good Shepherd since I my first organist job was with his father Dr. Leonard Koehler at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother and friend to her family and all people she came in contact with. On the morning of January 30th Laura had a very special visitor. God held her hand and said "Laura I am taking you home." At that very moment God had wiped away all her tears, pain, and fears for there is "no night there." Laura had finally met her final reward as she was in heaven, safe in the arms of Jesus. To Jack and his family Karen and I will never forget Laura and the love you all had for your wife, mom, and grandmother. God is always with you and will never leave you especially during these difficult times. I just wished that all people had the faith and belief that Laura had. God be with you Laura until we meet again. From Richard and Karen Appler

My sincere condolences to Jack, Trent and Michele. I was so sad to hear of Laura's passing. Laura has always had a very special place in my heart. I lovingly referred to her as my 'other mother'. She reminded me of this when we last visited in 2016 when my Mom passed. I was so grateful to see her and Jack that day. Her gentle, kind voice and smile was as comforting as I remember it from my younger days in Anola. Rest in Peace Laura.  Donna
