Linda Zacharias
LINDA ANN ZACHARIAS
(NÉE LAW)
January 20, 1950 – July 29, 2024
Linda Zacharias, a woman of incredible grace, beauty and kindness passed from this world at St. Boniface Hospital on July 29th after a short illness. In her final moments she was surrounded by the love of her husband Robert, daughter Colleen, son Brian and sister Barbara who supported her during her final journey.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband Robert Zacharias; daughter Colleen Anderson (Grant); son Brian Brown (Kristen Tyluk-Brown); step-daughter Jackie Zacharias (Gary Maria); her beloved grandchildren, Ashley LaBrie (Nick Fisher), Preston, Sage, Katie, and Maddie; and great grandson Lochlan. She is also survived and grieved by her mother RoseMary Law; her sisters and best friends, Maureen Rodrigue (Gerry), Barbara Champagne (Rolly), and Kathleen Tait (David); and her only brother Rick (Tracy). Her death has left a hole in the fabric of her close-knit family and the Zacharias family, including her three sisters-in-law, Elaine (Albert Turcotte), Debbie (Irvin Unger) and Cathy (Doug McKay). She will also be missed by the numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Patrick Law; grandparents, James and Marie Glynn, and Earl and Rose Law; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Mary Zacharias; and sister-in-law Tammy Zacharias.
Linda, the oldest child of RoseMary and Patrick Law, was born in Grand Forks, ND, and lived most of her life in Winnipeg. She grew up in St. Vital and Norwood and as the eldest child created many wonderful memories for her siblings including being woken at 7:00 on a Saturday morning to fresh baked corn meal muffins or coffee cake. She loved to feed people from a young age and throughout her life. She attended Christ the King School, St. Mary’s Academy and graduated from St. Boniface Diocesan High School. In school and life in general, Linda made friends easily through her caring and empathic nature and her love of fun and laughter – oh that laughter! She was able to find the humour in almost every situation, sometimes inappropriately, but never unkindly.
She married Dennis Brown in 1969 and together they had two children, Colleen and Brian. Linda loved being a mother and her love for her children was strong and fierce. She was an easy-going person unless you did wrong by her kids then – beware! She was also a fun parent. She played practical jokes, made Halloween costumes, wrote notes to put in their lunch and surprised them at school dressed as characters that she knew would make them laugh. She believed in them, cheered them on and supported them through every chapter of their lives. Colleen and Brian always knew they had the love and support of their Mom. Shortly after both kids started school, Linda completed her degree at the St. Boniface School of Nursing and began her career at St. Boniface Hospital retiring in 2009. Linda loved being a nurse and worked most of her career on OB/GYN. She cared so much about her patients and was a steady, reassuring, and comforting presence.
Linda and Dennis parted, and in 1993 she met her soulmate, Robert. From day one Robert and Linda found in each other partners who liked to have fun, who shared the same sense of humour and who both put family first. The relationship and love grew and they married in September of 1997. Their life together has included many highlights especially the marriages/partnerships of their children, the births of treasured grandchildren and great grandchild, countless family dinners and traditions - all with an abundance of laughter that followed them throughout the over 30 years they shared together.
Linda’s death was sudden and unexpected, and has left her family shocked and heartbroken. She leaves a legacy of family who share her traits, traditions that will carry on and memories that will never be forgotten.
We are thankful for wonderful care that she received at St. Boniface Hospital on 6AS and ACCU and are comforted that in her final days she spoke of the compassion, respect and expertise from the nurses and doctors who were trying so hard to help her.
There will be a private Celebration of Life / Wake for Linda at a later date.
If you wish, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to The Women’s Heart Health Initiative at the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.

My life and Linda’s intertwined several times over the years. As kids whose families lined up in rows at Sunday Mass, mischief-maker Brownies, and as young wives and mothers in an era when emerging feminism challenged traditional roles for women. Linda was a rock in my life and I have deeply fond memories of our friendship. Sending condolences and loving regards to Mrs. Law, Colleen and Brian, the Law siblings (and spouses) and to Linda’s husband, Robert.

I am saddened to hear of LInda' s sudden passing . I have fond memories of grade school at Christ the King when we were best buds and there was lots of fun at that young age. Good to know she didn't lose her sense of humor. I always enjoyed her birthday celebration at Mr. and Mrs. Glynn's where I was treated as one of the family. My condolences to all her loved one.
