Donald Zornik
DONALD EDWARD ZORNIK
December 16, 1937 – November 27, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce that Don Zornik passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, at the age of 86.
Don worked for 50 years as a plumber, pipefitter, steamfitter, and gasfitter. He loved working in his trade and took tremendous pride in the quality of his work. In his early years he loved to play hockey and was an accomplished athlete. As an early adult he enjoyed curling in the winter and fishing in the summer. Later on, his passion became gardening and following both the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Vikings. After retirement Don could always be found in his yard - from sun up to sun down, no amount a fussing was too much.
Don loved his family tremendously and had sadly been missing his wife Lorraine who predeceased him in 2008. Don was well known to be a kind and generous person; he lived a simple and satisfying life and knew how to be content and to always make the best of life’s challenges. Don also was known for his “off the wall” sense of humor and the smirk he gave off after delivering something that could only be funny to someone as off the wall as him. After one of those memorable instances, he was given the nickname Guito by his son, which became what friends lovingly referred to him by ever since.
Don leaves to mourn his daughter Lori Senkowsky and son Robert (Laura) Zornik; son in law Dan Balcewich; and sister Vivian (Armond) Paquette; as well as 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine; his daughter Kathy; and his parents, Buster and Sally.
You will be forever in our hearts!
As per Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
Don’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
