JOHN BILES PARROTT

May 20, 1942 - November 19, 2022

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden and tragic death of our father, John Parrott on November 19th, 2022.

Dad was born May 20, 1942, in Neepawa, MB to Gerald and Phyllis Parrott. At a very young age he had a love for vehicles, and by 13 he got a job at the local garage. He bought his first car at 14.

In the spring of 1961 dad met Janet Kasprick, it was love at first sight and their adventure began. On December 5, 1964, the two were married in a small church in the town of Polonia, MB. The following April Joanna was born in Brandon, where they had moved, and dad worked for another shop. In the fall of 1965 dad picked up the family and moved into a small apartment in The Pas, MB, while once again following the auto body work. With hard work and a loan from his folks, they bought a little place on Ralls Island Road. In 1968 Jackie was born and then in 1971 we welcomed Jeff.

Dad told mom they would only be for 5 years..... which turned into 50+ years where they worked side by side after purchasing The Pas Autobody. They raised the family and enjoyed the beauty and all the offerings of Northern Manitoba.

Dad was always busy! If he wasn’t restoring vehicles, The Stockcar Club, The Pas Town Council, Kinsmen, Legion, volunteer Fire Fighter, volunteer with the Trappers Festival, coaching minor hockey and ball, or building stuff, he was enjoying spending family time on the water at the cabin we built at Clearwater Lake. Skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, enjoying the parties with his close friends brought him joy, and is something he’ll be remembered for.

Dad was always up to lending a hand to build or fix whatever anyone needed, even if they didn’t think they needed it! He has left his craftsmanship on many places especially for his children. He was known as a “fart in a windstorm,” would show up unannounced with tools and lumber to work on a project and it was usually in the early am! With all his skills, he has passed some of those skills onto his children which we will forever hold him close to us. He has left a void in our lives that will never be filled.

As per our dad’s request, there will not be a service or celebration of life held in his honor. We ask that you take a moment to remember him as you hold up your favorite cocktail and “cheers” to him, as you have done in August for the passing of our beloved mother.
