ROGERS Gerald - Obituary Photo.jpg

GERALD DEE ROGERS

December 15, 1964 - November 9, 2021

With heavy hearts, we announce that Gerald Roger passed away on November 9th in Grand Rapids Nursing Station at the age of 57 years.

He is survived by his mother Lilias; wife Sylaina; children, Grace and Sheena; grandchildren, Unique, Keira, and Leo; sisters, Christine and Elizabeth; Nieces and Nephews, Sheryl-lynn, Raven, Eddy, Susie, and Mathew; as well as special friend Angie. He was predeceased by his dad (2000), brother Doug (1985), and sister Brenda (2016).

Gerald was always full of life and so loving and kind, he loved nothing more than to joke around and make people laugh due to his out going crazy personality. Everyone that got a chance to meet Gerry knew that and it’s a blessing. He built relationships and memories with so many people and friends over the years.

Gerry always put everyone first, he would give you the shirt off of his back, or his last meal if he could to make sure you ate first; that was his nature. Gerry made sure to let everyone around him know he loved and cared for them dearly. He was a lover of all animals, especially his cats and dogs, whom he was reunited by 3 of them in heaven, his cats Tazz and Sirria, and his dog Tibu and Tiggy whom he left behind and is in great hands of his daughter now. He loved his animals as if they were his children, they meant the world to him. Gerry loved music, Elvis Presley, singing, playing guitar, sports, cars, trucks, and playing prolines. Gerry had a passion for old fashioned cars and loved trucks. Over the years he accomplished getting his class one truck driving license, and did what he loved for a living, driving semi’s.

Gerry was a hardworking man and provided for all he cared for and loved. Gerry would always make the best of any situation he was in good or bad. He pushed hard in life and thrived for the best. He lived a very happy life surrounded by the people he loved most, his sisters, nephews, nieces, daughters, friends and his mother, that he loved dearly. He would always come to Winnipeg to visit her and made sure she was doing okay.  He loved his mother and grand babies very much and made sure they knew of it every day.

We will continue to keep him alive in our hearts with sharing his stories, memories, and pictures.  He may be gone but never forgotten.

We all love you so much Gerry. We will all keep a piece of you in our hearts.

I’M FREE

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,

I’m following the path God has laid for me.

I took his hand when I heard his call,

I turned my back and left it all,

I could not stay another day,

to laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

I found peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,

then fill it with remembered joys,

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

O yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life’s been full, I’ve savoured much,

Good family, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,

Don’t lengthen it with undue grief,

Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee,

God wanted me now. From pain I’m free.
