NORMA ESTELLE

ROZNOWSKY

(née BRETECHER)

May 5, 1947 - January 7, 2019

It is with great sadness we announce that Norma passed away with her loving family by her side on Monday, January 7, 2019.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jacqueline (Paddy), Marilyn (Rob), Carol, Craig (Iona), Susan (Rob), and Cory; grandchildren, Colleen, Amanda, Katie, Sean, Cody, Levi, Arista, Marteena, Kian, Erica, and Alice; great grandchildren, Theodore and Sebastian; sister Lorraine Berard (Claude); sisters-in-law, Gladys Halabisky (Morris); brother-in-law, Stephen Roznowsky (Joan) along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Norma was predeceased by her loving husband, Nick; parents, George and Rose; sister, Blanche; and parents-in-law, Norman and Teenie.

Norma Bretecher was the youngest of three daughters of George and Rose Bretecher.  She lived in Toutes Aides for the first nine years of her life and then moved to Waterhen with her parents where they ran a tourist camp known as North Star Camp.

Norma met Nick Roznowsky and they were married in November, 1966. They shared many accomplishments over the years, such as running a little tire shop and doing some farming.  Norma also worked part-time at North Star Camp, while being a full-time mother to us, her six children. After Nick retired, they moved to Dauphin.  She continued to live in Dauphin after Nick passed away in 2008.

Norma enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She loved doing puzzles and playing Bingo at her local community center.  Norma had very fond memories of her first trip on a plane to Mexico and talked about traveling the world forever after. Happy trails mom. Everyone who knew her would say she treated them like family. Norma will be missed but never forgotten.

Relatives and Friends are encouraged to share their memories of Norma and condolences for the family on this web page.

Norma’s life was celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church).  A Graveside Service and reception are to be held in Rorketon, Manitoba in mid-June.

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, and to the Dauphin Hospital for their care of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Cancer Care Manitoba, or a foundation of your choosing.

Mom…
